My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night thinking that it was going to be a charming bed and breakfast type hotel. From the beginning the service was horrible. We had a gift bag dropped off that was supposed to go in our room, which didn't happen. I went down to the counter three different times and was... more
The picture is not accurate. I live in this town. The hotel is quaint and charming. I've had a lot of meals in the English Room and at various banquets and events. Sunday and Saturday brunch is terrific. A great place to stay in the area. But that picture they have on this site is NOT the Deer Path Inn!! more
Several years ago we went to England. Our travel companions remarked that the next time we go we should stay in an old manor house. Lacking the time and a current passport, we opted for the Deer Path Inn. Well England will have to wait. The Deer Path Inn has a charm and décor that made our weekend away just... more
Stayed here for a wedding. The hotel is cute, but worn. Wallpaper is ripped and fading in areas, furniture is very dated. I know they are trying to keep the "historic" feeling but it just feels old and tired and not historic. Like staying at grandma's house. The shower was the worst I have ever taken in my life; water... more
While this is a charming hotel, the Deerpath is old and it's room amenities simply do not cater to the business traveler or even the vacationer who expects some basic hotel conveniences. High-speed internet connection is always spotty, the TV/cable does not function well in all rooms, bathroom layout and fixtures are dated and the furniture is old and not... more
Although the Historical building and interiors are its attraction, the Deer Path Inn is very tired and needs a complete remodel. Torn wallpaper; very old & torn upholstery everywhere, old bathroom fixtures. Apparently, it's the only place to stay in Lake Forest but it's not worth the price. more
I stayed in the Deer Path Inn for 2 nights while attending a painting class at the nearby Gorton Community Center. I chose this hotel because I did not want to rent a car and it is the only hotel in Lake Forest. This is a historic hotel and has all sorts of little quirks(like the vintage elevator) but is... more
I stayed at the Deer Path for one night while I was in Chicgo interviewing for a job--the company put me up there. When I arrived in the room there were messages left on the phone for another guest and a personal note addressed to someone else left with an old plate of fruit. As a busienss traveler, I look... more
This is a very overrated hotel. The only thing it has going for it is the location downtown Lake Forest...and then its a little bit off the beaten path. The English Room is overrated. The common areas are very small. The rooms are in need of remodeling. The $160 minimum price is too much for what you get. They do... more
