Very nice hotel. Clean, nicely decorated and overlooking a courtyard area. There was a restaurant adjacent to it. While we didn't dine there, it looked very nice. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. Morning offerings included danishes, fresh fruit and Starbuck's coffee. About 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis.

Last time I stayed here this was a nice hotel, and I’m happy to say nothing has changed. Sure, it’s a little dated, but well kept. I have to describe it as charming, or quaint. Like a previous review, upon arriving the office was closed, but the key was thumb-tacked to the front door, in an envelope with my name... More

My partner's family treks their way to Aviston, IL for the town's annual church festival. Part of this tradition has been to crash at Michael's little Swiss Chalet Inn, directly in the heart of Highland, IL. Instead of staying at a chain lodging place like the Holiday Inn, you get more out of your trip by supporting a town business/family... More

Thanks Richie D for your positive review. We appreciate your support of our family owned and operated Inn. We try to provide a clean, comfortable room at a fair price and we still have 10 rooms left so keep calling for now. Thanks More

We have stayed at Michaels Swiss Inn twice in the last two years. As the other reviewers have noted the physical plant is a bit dated. However, we have always received great customer service and we love the friendly staff.

Admittedly, there isn't a huge choice of hotels in Highland but I selected the Swiss Inn over others based on a friend's recommendation. The hotel is not bad, all in all, but seems a bit "tired". When I arrived late at night, the office was dark and locked. I finally found my room key in an envelope pinned to the... More

I have a real fondness for vintage hotels and willingness to overlook the absence of amenities you expect from the the pricier chains. But Michael's has gotten pricier to match the Hamptons or Comforts - - $94 a night this stay! - and yet nothing's been done to justify the price. The wallpaper's curling, the deadbolt on the door is... More

The bed sheets had millions of little pulls & pills in them. There was dog hair on the bed when I arrived, and the bedding was stained. (rust I am hoping) The toiet, shower & tub needed a very good cleaning. The room dressing needs updating. It has a 70's feel to it. Some of the furntiure is new, some... More

Stayed there for the second time over the Thanksgiving weekend. For those people who love discovering a unique, affordable hotel, this is the place. It was built in the 40s and I love the retro Swiss look and feel. The rooms are clean, large and furnished with a tasteful, modern flair, and have all the amenities you'd find at any... More

My wife and I stayed in their Honeymoon suite for two nights back in October. The suite was huge, and absolutely gorgeous. The detail in the hardwood floors added a lot of character to the suite, as did the vaulted ceiling. We arrived after-hours, but the owners had the key waiting for us, so there was no trouble getting in.... More

While working the 1st annual Art in the Park show in 2005 we stayed at Michael's Swiss Inn for one night. (There was a mix-up in our other reservations and we had to find a room for just one night.) The room was clean and very spacious. The staff was courteous and helpful. The restaurant was excellent! We will probably... More
