My husband surprised me for my birthday with a weekend away. Margarita European Inn was a nice change from our usual stays in chain hotels. Very nice staff, charming décor, updated bathrooms, and comfortable accommodations. It's within walking distance to restaurants, stores, and the lake front. We very much enjoyed the breakfast served in the morning also.

We arrived at the hotel not knowing what to expect. We found the parking in the back by happenstance, and honestly, the parking is the only drawback to the hotel. The rooms were on the small side, but we weren't planning a party - we were there to sleep and change clothes. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom updated, and... More

I want to start by saying that all of the staff at the Inn were very friendly and the location is perfect. The Inn itself - well, it could really be nice, but even after the renovations, it still needs work. Cons: * There is junk and trash everywhere. If you park in the back of the Inn and walk... More

On a recent visit to Evanston my wife and I stayed here for three nights; our daughter and granddaughter joined us in a separate room for two of these nights. We were pleased to find that the rooms had been extensively renovated since our previous visit to the hotel ten years ago. The bathroom had been completely updated, functioning perfectly,... More

We only stayed here one night. Check in was very fast and easy. They have a small parking lot in the back. The room was small but it was only for sleeping. The bathrooms were very nice and looked recently updated. The vintage elevator was pretty neat. It was expensive but worth it for the one night stay.

The service at check in was very friendly and polite, and we enjoyed the décor. It certainly is a cute place, with the library, lobby, antique elevator. But, our room was a let-down. It was small (which we expected), but to the point of being cramped. It was also poorly lit and the rug was unclean. The bed provided the... More

As others have said, this hotel feels European. Only you can decide if you are okay with that. Personally, I don't mind the lack of flat screen TV, I don't mind using the stairs instead of the teeny antique elevator. I don't even mind walking down to the second floor to get ice. However, that also means there is no... More

We visited Chicago for the 4th of July celebrations and stayed all weekend at the Margarita European inn. Located minutes away from the CTA line, it is just what you need, to step back from the hustle and bustle of a big town and enjoy an authentic European inn experience. Th rooms aren't spacious but quite cozy, the service staff... More

Chose to stay in Evanston while visiting nearby Northwestern University and Chicago during June of 2012. The Inn is actually very authentically European and has great service. The front desk helped us get around the area. If you're looking for a modern place with a pool, fitness center, etc this is not it. But if you are visiting the area... More

This is a brilliant hotel its not plastic or perfect its rooms are small and it needs money spending on it, but please spend it wisely because this hotel has something about it. The place oozes class, the staff are ace, the setting quiet but well placed for local restaurants etc, and the trip to Chicago by train is so... More
