We have stayed here several times, and it is now the hotel of choice for our family. The rooms are not very fancy, but they are comfortable and fairly typical B&B type fare. The people are very nice and very accompodating. The big sell is the restaurant. It is absolutely first class. Excellent food! We think this is the best... More

My husband and I enjoyed 2 nights at this charming european inn tucked in downtown Evanston. Upon arrival my husband and I were warmly greeted by Kathryn who welcomed us by using our first names, a very special and memorable gesture of hospitality, and her personal attention made us feel like we truly had "come home". Our corner mini suite... More

We came to town for a football game, the weekend was a win/win! This hotel was perfect to go to Ryans Field. Loved the parlor for continental breakfast. We had room 316, queen with a private bath and it was fantastic, comfy bed, extremely clean bathroom and ceiling fan. The room did get warm but the fan was helpful. The... More

Highest marks go for the room price compared to other surrounding properties. Without my kids along, a pool wasn't essential, and I simply needed a place to stay after a friend's reunion. It was a miserably hot day and the inn was sweltering, but my tiny room was pleasantly cool due to a ceiling fan, little a/c floor unit, and... More

The Margarita is a former women's boarding house converted into a B&B-flavored hotel. The place is old, but spotlessly clean. Sort of a hostel for grown ups! Privacy & smaller quarters are what you trade for an inexpensive, walk-ably convenient hotel in this beautiful college town! The staff (hosts?) are attentive & helpful, and continental breakfast is included. We'll certainly... More

This is definitely a spot for a certain type of person. I was in Evanston for a conference, and three of us shared a very well-priced room for three nights. We had a blast. My two dear friends and roomies were both pregnant and in need of comfort--the owner and manager was as nice as could be (Kathryn, I think)... More

I hate giving this place a bad review, because the owner/innkeep is such a charming nice woman. But based purely on the merit (or lack thereof) of the establishement itself, I have to say that it's one of the worst places I've ever stayed. My college dorm was newer, more modern and cleaner -- and it was 40+ years old... More

I was in evanston for a conference and am so happy that my friend scoped out this place. At first it was kind of creepy and reminded me of the hotel where the movie " The Shining" took place and then once I got over that and decided I wouldn't hang out there alone It was charming and quaint. There... More

My husband and I were in Evanston to attend a football game. We love B and B's, and boutique hotels. Based on the online description, this sounded perfect. From the minute we opened the front door, I was nervous. The entry rugs were very dirty. We walked upstairs to the check- in desk. There must have been 20 years of... More

We liked the antique-packed main parlor and although it wasn't perfect for a family with two small kids, we were able to keep them from toppling any chairs or breaking anything, and the staff was very nice about our special needs and early-morning noise, if not always quick to respond to requests. We may return when they're a little older... More
