The Grand Rose is something to see as the state has spared no expense in renovations and restoration details true to it's glory of yesteryear. The views from the front porch and gazebo to the Ohio river does not get any better. Emily the Inn Keeper is the hostess with the mostess and will share some great stories and historical... More

The hotel was built in 1812 and originally served as a tavern on the river for pioneers traveling on the river. This is the oldest operating hotel in Illinois. The hotel faces the river and is set in the middle of a very small town (Elizabethtown)....a very quaint setting. My husband and I stayed elsewhere but we made the decision... More

We have always wanted to spend the night here and finally got the chance this weekend. It was wonderful! The innkeepers were exceptionally friendly and helpful and after we told them we were riding the Tunnel Hill Trail the next day, even introduced us to another couple staying there who had just done that and were able to give us... My wife and I have been wanting to spend the night here for ages, we finally were able to this weekend. Everything exceeded our expectations. The hosts were the best, they made us feel like old friends. The room " the mama rose" could not have been nicer. The included breakfast was delicious. Just a wonderful experience. We will be... becky and burtis, thank-you so much for your southern illinois hospitality. felt at home the minute we got there, like all our worries were left outside, way outside. the breakfasts were scrumptious, the conversation so friendly. your willingness to accept people as trusting put our faith back into meeting new folks. we were amazed by "just square up when you're... My fiance and I arrived late on Friday evening and found the Inn keepers still up waiting for our arrival. We were treated like royalty during our stay by everyone we met. Breakfast both mornings was excellent and the hospitality was second to none. The view of the river is spectacular and makes you feel like everything is moving at... More

Went there for a girls getaway. The location is very pretty and the staff is friendly but perhaps a bit too familiar. It is in the middle of nowhere with only one bad restaurant nearby. There were 5 of us and we were told that we had the facility to ourselves. One night we heard doors slamming and men's voices.... More

My wife and I have stayed at this Bed and Breakfast at least 5 times, sometimes with friends. We keep coming back. The hostess, Sandy, is very friendly and keeps the place immaculate. We never tire of her friendliness. We love the view of the Ohio River, and enjoy sitting in the Gazebo directly overlooking the river as well as... More

The Grand Rose was our base for exploring the Shawnee Forest. It is a charming B&B overlooking the Ohio River. Get a room with veranda access because the river is the only thing going on in Elizabethtown - and I mean that in a good way. The rooms are nice & provide everything you need. The hostess, Sandy, is warm... More

I annually take my mother on a birthday getaway to an undisclosed location by car. As she lives in northwest TN, I work very hard to plan trips which do not require a great deal of drive time, but for which the drive time will be interesting. We have just returned from celebrating her 89th! Using the wonderful Scenic Byway... More
