Bluffdale is a sweet family run business/farm in the middle of Illinois. When we visited, they had kittens, lab puppies, and even a baby horse that we could pet. Maybe not the best for those afraid of dirt or older teenagers, but adventurous kids (3-13) will love having the space and woods to run around and explore.

Everything people are saying below is true. Still the kids truly had the time of their *lives*. The had kittens, puppies, dogs, horses (and a new foal), chickens, and geese. The kids got to play with the kittens and puppies as much as they wanted. The hike and land was beautiful. The took care of the animals. For the adults,... More

Went for a 3 day getaway. First impression was all the uncut weeds in the "yard". Second was the "rec-room" with broken and worn-out foosball, bumper-pool table, ping-pong table. I started to think I was in a Chevy Chase movie. The room was this airless compartment in a converted barn. Sheets didn't feel fresh at all. Refrigerator in the room... More

Awful. Never again. We brought our five kds (ages 2-9) to the farm for spring break. Although the kids had a great time, it was because they don't care about the same things adults do -- like cleanliness and value. We were greeted by FILTHY, flea-ridden (although friendly) dogs. Lots of them. Our cabin looked nice, but didn't include things... More

Although it is a perfect setting for somebody who wants a real farm vacation, a lot needs to be said about the dismal condition of the dining/kitchen and the food. The family who run it are very nice people but they have not managed to keep the farm in good condition and the upkeep is really lacking. Small details like... More

We, me, my 7 year old daughter and friend had a great 4 days at the farm. The drive to the farm was getting better at every turn the closer we got to the farm. The countryside is absolutely beautiful. We loved to eat the meals in family atmosphere passing food around the table and talking with the host family... More

We spent two nights at Bluffdale because we wanted my 4 year old granddaughter who has grown up in Chicago to experience nature first hand . We were not disappointed, This was a wonderful hands on experience which delighted her and gave me enormous pleasure just to observe her reactions . I am sure the fond memories will stay with... Wonderful location - could be a great vacation spot. Cabins are nice. My husband and I spent a night to celebrate our anniversary. However, I woke up at 1:17am to find a man standing - in our cabin - over the bed - looking down at me. Realizing I was awake, he fled. After notifying police, we left. Called the... More

I just wanted to quickly add to what this reviewer had to say. I could relate to alot of the comments (except for the ticks...we used to stay in July or August and only had ticks one summer out of five). When my son was little, we used to love this place. It was perfect for families with kids who... More

Just when you think that after completing Outward Bound, growing up on horse farms and staying in Middle Eastern youth hostels has made you ready for anything - try taking the kids to Bluffdale for a long weekend in August. Just about six months ago my wife and I started to investigate dude ranches to take the family (my son,... More
