Went for lunch on Saturday Chatsworth country fair weekend, it wasn't very busy and I was surprised because in previous visits we struggled. We both went for something off the specials board, I had the smoked haddock, mustard mash and poached egg. The haddock was a little dry as was the mash. The wife had scampi and chips which was... Somewhat small double room. Found the refreshment tray in the wardrobe, dirty. After three requests we finally had it cleaned and replenished at 11.00pm. An apology was forthcoming in the morning with the proviso that staff had been busy! Not value for money.

My partner and I arrived at the Devonshire, parked the car and discovered one of the staff in the bin store having a sneaky cigarette, not a great first impression! The one night cost £145 b&b, the room was beautiful and of a standard we would expect for this price, very contemporary bathroom with a luxurious 4 poster bed, it... More

It's in the perfect location for the Peak District & especially chatsworth estate which is less than 5 minutes drive away, the village of Pilsley is very pretty & quiet. The room was very clean & comfortable (we stayed in ewe close) The staff were really... More

I have just returned from an overnight stay at The Devonshire Arms, Pilsley with my partner and felt compelled, for the first time, to submit a review. The experience was exceptional from the minute we were shown to our stunning room. We stayed in the Hill Top room in the farmhouse. The decor was beautiful, tasteful and lamp lit for... More

Last week we enjoyed a two night stay in one of 'The Farm' four poster bedrooms. The room was sumptuous and the bathroom fantastic. Two very small downsides - the bed was extremely high and very difficult to climb into (apparently this problem is being addressed) and on a more personal note we found the mattress 'extra firm' not to... We have wanted to visit Chatsworth House for some time and wanted somewhere close by to stay. The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley is perfect for this purpose. The rooms are small, but are very comfortable and the bathrooms are spotless. Downstairs they serve good pub food. It is not gastro pub food, but honest and good value pub grub, like... More

We were lucky enough to stay at the Devonshire arms for 2 nights last week for our honeymoon. We ate here both nights and really enjoyed the food, wine and beers available and the service was fantastic. We stayed in Fold, which was a lovely room, clean and nicely decorated. Ground coffee in the room too, which we really appreciated.... More

New rooms have four poster beds our room was on the ground floor overlooking the village at the front, and open countryside at the back. Very quiet and peaceful location. Only snag the beds are very high and really need steps to reach, this is 'in hand' the very helpful staff assured us.
