DeWitt Place is a bargain hotel in an excellent location with one of the most reasonable parking arrangements right across the street. Its desk and other staff were very friendly and accommodating, but the rooms, while brought somewhat up to date, are spartan, albeit clean. Reminds one of good student hostels. Word is that air conditioning is coming.

We stayed in one apartment for one week for work. The apartment was nice and the kitchen was much bigger than we expected, so that was a plus. The service at the reception however wasn´t helpful whatsoever as we were two and wanted to split the bill for work. Moreover when asking for help on how to use the washing... More

We booked the DeWitt Place when passing through Chicago on the way home from my graduation trip. As an out of towner, I was apprehensive booking anything too far out of town. Additionally, I wanted something centrally located; that was safe, and clean. This hotel offered that and so much more. This beautiful older structure offers the lovely charm of... More

My room was ok. It wasn't dark but didn't get a nice view. If you're looking for a quite and safe place, Dewitt Place is convinient to stay. It wasn't dirty in the room. Pretty clean actually but the towels which I didn't want to use because they were washed but still hair stuck in the fibers. Which made me... More

This is a great budget hotel. It's a bit older and the elevator seems like it's barely moving. However, it's in a good location - only a few blocks from the lake and 1 block from the John Hancock Tower. Lots of good restaurants and shopping nearby on Michigan Ave. The one problem I had was that I arrived early... More

The Dewitt place apartments are a mix of short and long term apartment accommodations, at the north end of the magnificent mile. The facilities are older but reasonably maintained, but are well priced and the property well located. The apartments do not have a lot of the "mod cons" but are clean and the staff friendly and I a city... More

We stayed 3 nights in Chicago at the DeWitt Place and it was wonderful. We were not in the room very much and the furnishing/decor was a bit 'dated' but we knew that from the reviews. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the location and would certainly stay there again! Staff was very friendly and having the Lake so close by and shopping... More

The location of Dewitt is good, located just 2 blocks from the Magnificent Mile and 1 block from the Lakefront Trail. There is cutlery provided although there is no bottle opener or baking trays for chips or pizza. The staff are friendly and willing to help. Although we had housekeeping included during our stay, the floors and table tops were... More

Arrived to DeWitt Place April 11, 2015. From the outside seemed unassuming, nice and quite area. Looking forward to our night after the Opera. After checkin the lobby has only one elevator for ten stories of this building. This day the elevator was "stuck" on floor ten for at least 60 minutes. Beside the one elevator is a "freight" elevator... More

We stayed here twice within a week. This place is simply amazing - great location, great price, easy access to rest of Chicago, plenty of places to eat - what more can you ask for? Big room, supremely clean, smiling staffs - I can just go on and on..

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
