Kimpton hotels can be hit and miss. This one was a hit. Great property and location. Comfy room. Awesome pillows. Fancy soaps. I got the accessible bathroom and it was huge. The breakfast at the attached restaurant (312 Chicago) was hotel-pricey but very excellent. Short Rib Hash was greeeattt. Bar scene was hoppin' when I checked in late.

After reading some recent reviews I was skeptical about this place. I thought it was a great hotel. Great room - nice bed - great AC - great location. I was surprised the first morning to find they had coffee, fruit, and trail mix in the lobby. The only negative was on day 2 the lobby continental breakfast was out... More

Located downtown it is not cheap but rates are reasonable with super accommodations. Just a short walk to the river and to Millennial Park. Very near the the elevated line. No free breakfast except for coffee, tea, and fruit. A nice variety of free nationwide newspapers.

My experience at the Allegro was brief but the room was large and clean, it was quiet, and the bed and bedding were comfortable. There were convenient outlets for my electronics and the wi-fi is free if you join the Kimpton loyalty program. There is a little bit of weirdness with the decor but not too off-putting.

Really nice, educated, mature, informed front of house employees who make an excellent impression, but the management of this whole establishment is just the pits. Hair in the bathtub. (Need I say more?) A bathroom so small you can wash your hands while going potty. Bizarrely outdated decor. Pillows feel like a sack of rice or a bag of old... More

This was definitely a mixed bag, but I will stay somewhere else on my next trip to Chicago. On the plus side, the hotel is well situated, and the room was clean. On the down side, our room was not cleaned when we returned at about 3:30 PM from a day out. At home, I make my own bed and... More

We were extremely disappointed, and will not stay here in the future. There is no room service in the hotel, and there isn't even a coffee maker. Upon the day of checkout we needed an extra 30 minutes, and the front desk was adamant that we could not stay past 12:00 as the hotel was totally booked for the night.... More

Lagunaone, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. It sounds like we really did not come through on your expectation and I am sorry that that's the case. I am glad that you did enjoy our Social Hour with Bubbly and that the Bell Staff delivered the service we are known for. If you do decide to... More

The Allegro has a terrific location as many have noted, and the two times I have stayed here, the room rate was very reasonable. If that is enough for you, then stay there. But on a recent, busy weekend when the hotel was full, the staff just couldn't keep up. We were part of a large group staying there for... More

I stayed here with my daughter while we were in town for the Taylor Swift concert. The location can't be beat for access to the subway (both blue and red lines right around the corner), Michigan Ave, and State Street shopping. There's a Starbucks on site, plus a restaurant. The morning tea and coffee bar was fabulous, as well as... More

I agree with the gist of the other reviews - the center city location is great, no in-room coffee maker, etc. But told this is a very old hotel ,and it shows in some ways. The halls are very dark, the rooms are relatively small, and the black-and-white décor turned me off. But the bed was wonderful and I liked... More
