Location can't be beat. The el is right there. It is a short walk to Michigan Ave and Millenium Park. Theaters abound. This is a great spot down town and less pricey than along the Miracle Mile, even though it is right there. The hotel's decor is bold and interesting. I liked it. Somewhat art deco meets mid-century, but not... More

Booked this hotel with British Airways, flew from Spain to London then Chicago to see Cher in concert, but she had already postponed, however the the only hiccup was to with a very ignorant, foulcheered us up no end, with its great looks, location and staffing, and thats before mentioning the `wine hour´, the breakfast in 312 next door, the... Recently stayed here while in the city to attend a birthday party. I love that this hotel was pet friendly and allowed us to bring our 10 year old lab along to stay over with us (without some crazy deposit or expensive fee) Our king room was quite tiny for the two of us and our dog but we weren't... My company made arrangements for me to stay here. I had a nice stay and would give it 5 stars except the front desk staff wasn't exactly on point. However, there is a Starbucks connected to lobby and a decent bar. They had a free wine tasting opportunity for an hour. Concierge service was great! Down side, oddly place mirror... More

This use to be a solid hotel. In fairness this hotel is trying to update its look- soon the lobby will be closed to undergo renovations. The lower bar, Encore, is being shuttered. So, in a few months it might be quite nice- but as of now it seems tired, unfocused and not particularly hospitable. The rooms seem to have paper... More

I have enjoyed many a Kimpton hotel stay. I love their pet policy, their decorating flair, the wine hour and the great customer service. I have long been a member --for well over ten years and thought I was one of their biggest fans, that is until I checked in today at the Allegro in Chicago. What a disappointment! My... More

Stayed earlier this month for one night - this hotel is everything that I love about Kimpton properties - exceptional staff, modern design, and comfortable rooms at affordable prices. The location is a quick walk from the El, and easy distance from Millennium Park and Roosevelt University. Would certainly stay again.

Decided to stay here for the points instead of my favorite Chicago hotel, the Talbott. Huge mistake. My first room was small, dark and shabby so I spent $150 to upgrade to a suite which was large, dark and shabby....and directly on top of the El train tracks. This morning I went to get coffee in the. Lobby and it... More

Oh no! It sounds like we really screwed this stay up for you! We are sorry to hear that but certainly do appreciate your feedback. Our complimentary Coffee Station and Wine Hour do tend to get crowded as it's a pretty popular amenity at Kimpton Hotels. You may have seen this on previouses repsonses already, but we going to give... More

I'm a long-time Kimpton fan - I'll fall all over myself to stay at the Monaco or Burnham in Chicago and many other Kimpton's around the country. But we were very disappointed in the Allergro. The ambiance etc was fine - but the rooms were microscopic. So small that the bathroom and closet doors couldn't be open at the same... More

Sounds like we missed the mark here on what you are used to from other Kimpton properties around town and around the country. It pains us to hear that you had a not so great stay but we appreciate the feedback. Our rooms are definetely on the cozy side, which comes with the Allegro being housed in a historic building.... We stayed for one night. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the service is good, location is great and the bed was comfortable. The room seemed clean enough, but upon further inspection, we found dirty fingerprints on the glass lamp stand and a glob of spit (yes, spit, and pink at that) on the wall next to the desk. It really... More

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I am disappointed to hear that we did not meet your expectations on many levels and surprised to hear that the room was not properly cleaned as our team takes much pride in their work. We often get comments on how clean the hotel is. Rest assured, I will share your feedback with... More
