Pros: -Location is hard to beat on Michigan Ave -Parking is right next to the hotel -Clean room and recently renovated Cons: -Not much for your money. Rooms are very small and not much for comfort. -Pillows are the size of decoration pillows -Hard to get around the hotel. Elevators are a chore. -Long check-in check-out times. They should have... Tha Allerton Hotel is a brick built skyscraper - well it would be a skyscraper anywhere else but it's only 30 floors high so is dwarfed by the buildings around it in Chicago's "Marvellous Mile". It manages to have "character" - Lucille Ball and Frank Sinatra are past guests. It's perfectly sited ( the Apple Store is next door so... More

I stayed two nights at this hotel and did not experience any of the negatives I've read about in other reviews. I booked a standard king room. My room was right next to the elevators, and the noise did not disturb me at all. There were no problems with plumbing or noises or slow elevator service. The room did have... More

We have been going to the Allerton Hotel almost every year in April or May. We love the staff. Freddie has been there 13 years and it's so great to be greeted by his smile and hug upon arrival. Steve has been there 10 years and he's also great. We had a corner junior suite and it was perfect. We... More

I recently spent 7 night here on a mix of business and pleasure. My son and I stayed in a Superior Suite and it was spacious and well appointed. The front desk staff was helpful as was concierge. Located conveniently on Michigan Ave between the Apple Store and the Disney Store. Never had a problem getting a cab or walking... More

The location right on the Magnificent Mile is great, the property looks like one of those great grand hotels, the rooms are small but well appointed with very comfortable beds. I experienced their service delivery however as rather flawed. Too long wait for check in / out, late delivery of overnight laundry, the front door man hauling just the wrong... More

Location is good--it's right on Mich Ave, with Northwestern Hospital to the east. I liked the apparent remodeling on the ground and 2nd floors. The mtng room levels looked very nice. The staff was pleasant and helpful despite the hotel being near full and busy. The room was clean, and everything functioned. The room was just a bit tight for... More

I came with my family, including my 15 months old son. The hotel is nice but not recommended if you are traveling with babies, as in that case they are not helpful at all. It was almost impossible to get them to warm up the baby food (which is all I requested). They continuosly said it was not possible, even... More

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel in March. The staff were excellent, the room i was allocated was big enough for me. Towels were nice and soft but the sheets on my bed were not as comfortable and i could not get the pillows to my prefered height. 1 was too low and 2 was too high. I ended... More

I stayed at the Warwick Allerton for two nights in April, 2015. It was a business trip, but I brought my son and sister in law with me - they took in the museums and sites while I worked (but bonus: I got to see my kiddo at night!). We had a room with two queen sized beds; they told... More

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
