Very positive surprise. I was planning a back to back to the Sheraton on the river, when the spg website showed this little gem. 15 floors or so, an old house, completely renovated with beautiful old-fahion style furnitures, nice baths and an elegant, warm lounge. The Tremont has a homy touch that you may want to have in a big... More

We stayed in the Tremont over Memorial Day weekend. We chose it largely due to its proximity to where my daughter lives. We were not disappointed. The location is convenient to Michigan Avenue, the Triangle, and jumping on the red line. The folks in the lobby are friendly, especially Jordan, who never seemed to sleep! He was always friendly and... More

You'll not find a better location for a Chicago hotel. I am a SPG preferred member and was given a room on the 12th floor. The room was newly refurbished. Everything worked. The room was small but everything I needed was there. Ditka's bar adjacent to the lobby worked fine. I'll stay next time.

I would have given 5 stars except for two minor complaints. The air conditioning in the room was great and it kept a great temperature. It was just super noisy. Second, the bathrooms are a bit dated which isn't so bad except I have gotten really used to comfort height toilets. I literally felt like I was squatting like a... More

I selected the property because of a) the location for my business meetings, b) "some" of the reviews here and c) the rate. Frankly, while the location is appealing and the rate attractive compared to other 4/5 star hotels, the reviews here are very kind. The property has fundamental issues that are both "capital" related and "operational". In terms of... More

A very nice boutique style hotel in a perfect location, friendly helpful staff, yes, the rooms are small, bathroom even smaller but beds are comfortable and basically everything you need for enjoying the Magnificent Mile and Rush.

The Good: The location and price were great. I appreciated the free wifi and free bottled water on the SPG level. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The staff was nice and friendly. The lobby while small was updated and fresh. Free newspapers in lobby. The rooms were freshly painted and new carpet. Couple blocks from the Chicago redline station.... More

No hot water one night, coming back after it got cold and rainy in Chicago. Guess what? No heat. They have either heat or AC, "because it's May" they turned off the heat. No apology either beyond an offer of more blankets. Not as nice as other SPG properties. Dirty windows inside and out.

Nice little hotel in a great location in Chicago. The rooms were pretty basic but all the same nice to, could do with a little decorating but overall okay. The best thing was the location, the not so good was (may seem small to some).... no coffee / tea facilities in the room, sometimes you just need a cup of... More

Special Place! I began planning a trip to Chicago months ago for our daughter's graduation from Med School. We needed a number of rooms for the entire family as well as a larger room to gather and entertain in. I can't thank the Tremont enough for the best Hotel experience I've had in years. From the 1st meeting @ the... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
