The Drake is unique. It's hard to know how to rate it. The Drake has great architectural bones, location, common areas, and history. Its old-line Chicago Gold Coast grandeur and character are unique and worth experiencing. North facing rooms have fabulous views. The staff is friendly and helpful. On line rates can be very reasonable. It's a beloved Chicago institution.... More

We love this hotel! We are faithful to the Hilton portfolio of hotels anyway, but when we want to experience luxury and grandeur, The Drake is the place to stay. The service we have received from both Tekeisha and Wilson at the Front Desk has been outstanding, they always look out for getting us the nicest rooms they have available.... More

The Drake in Chicago is a classic old world experience. The architecture and craftsmanship that went into this building is stunning. I was upgraded to a junior suite - the room was huge and the view spectacular. Too bad I was on a business trip for one night. I'd love to stay here with my wife and enjoy the town.

We stayed here for a wedding, and it's an excellent property to visit for an event--close to shops and restaurants and the waterfront, and also a gorgeous ballroom. The rooms themselves are about what you'd expect: A bit dated, but comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and checked us in quickly. A very easy stay all-around.

This hotel breathes old world charm. Though it is one of Chicago's famous(old) hotels it is worse for wear. The lobby needs a major overhaul. The carpets in the hotel need to go as they appear to have been around forever - stained and discoloured. The rooms are decent. Not your regular squeezed tight kind of rooms so that was... More

We stayed three nights at The Drake. We were automatically upgraded to a suite upon check-in. The room was beautiful and the staff were incredibly helpful. A few of the restaurants were closed due to a private party at the hotel, which was unfortunate, but the party was not intrusive and did not disturb our stay.

We stayed 3 nights at the Drake. Breakfast was excellent, but the service was a little slow sometimes, its mostly a buffet but they bring you coffee etc. The entertainment areas on the lower floors are excellent, a step back to an earlier time of luxury. But on the downside our room was a little tired, quite acceptable but not... More

This grand daddy of a hotel in Chicago was a good place to stay for 2 nights. It is now owned by Hilton hotels and you get the same service at the Drake as any of this high end hotels in the Hilton chain. It is a throw back hotel to the roaring 20's in décor but it is clean... More

The old charm of this hotel is still there, But Management needs to start looking at the small items, bathrooms, hallways. People. This is the first time since we have been going to this hotel I can honestly say the people working there didn't Care. except for the Doormen. The bar Cog D'or was the worst

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
