We were here on business. Our room was fine, but after many attempts at trying to get connected to our "free WIFI" and several contacts to hotel and Tech help we spent the whole time with no WIFI. Location was good, and staff was very nice. Checkin was smooth, and our room was ready when we arrived. Used the concierge... More

Close to shopping, the John Hancock building, and tons of restaurants. Walking in the hotel makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to a hotel that only the rich and famous used to stay. It is absolutely beautiful! There is a lot of restaurants to chose from inside the hotel or within walking distance. The downfalls: walls... More

We recently spent two nights in a Junior Suite at The Drake and wonder why we had not previously stayed in a Junior Suite rather than regular room during any of our previous stays at Hilton Hotels. The square footage was phenomenal with two bathrooms, three closets, hallway into our living room, and accordion doors to close off the bedroom.... More

The Drake is a beautiful old hotel in a great location on the lake. I enjoyed my stay there. My chief complaint on my business trip was having to crawl under the desk each time I needed to plug in my computer or cell phone charger. They should add a power strip to the desk to make the room more... More

The Drake was located downtown yet, within walking distance to the beach areas (if I would have had the time!). The staff was efficient if not overly outgoing, however to be fair I did check-in close to midnight. I have always been a Hilton brand believer and now a Drake believer too!

The Drake Hotel gave me the space and quiet I needed to both travel on business and keep up with my work at home. With internet in the meeting spaces and in the rooms I was never disconnected. With the work space in my room and the business services around the hotel I was able stretch out and get work... More

My husband and I are HHonors members and we went on a week long vacation with another couple and spent 4 nights at The Drake. We arrived early, 1245, and our room was ready. Our bags were taken upstairs by the bell desk staff, and yes we did tip them a few bucks for their assistance, our executive rooms were... More

The iconic, historic and timeless Drake hotel. Seems like it was here forever, at least a century is a lot for America. If you love Chicago and go there often whether for business or pleasure- that's a place where you'll stay eventually once (as Chicago offers a huge variety of prestigious and luxury hotels, like Four Seasons, Peninsula, Ritz Carlton,... Nice room decor upgrades. Many old hotels you can trip on the elevation change carpet to tile in bathroom—not here. They have good sloped tile work. Pick a high floor- the windy city also has plenty of sirens. Do you think that mail slots where boosted about in the past the way that WiFi is now?

Check in was supposed to be 3 PM. We were not given a room until 5:30 PM. However, we were given a Coq D'or bar-restaurant $20 voucher each, and later that evening a small plate of sweets. Finally in the room, we had to get the hotel to change our TV and replace the battteries for the safe. Otherwise the... More

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
