The positive thing is that it is downtown and very central. I guess this is why it is so expensive to stay in a room that barely fits the two beds. The maids didn't make my bed for the 4 days I was there. I even got a handwritten note saying she couldn't do it because my backpack and clothes... More

A great place to stay as close to all central amenities downtown. Room for one with a good size double bed at a reasonable price a good find. Lotsa good eating places nearby. Only concern was often long wait for lifts as used by staff as well and small size doesn't lend itself to people and luggage trolleys.

Found a cockroach on the shower curtain. GROSS! Next time I will pay 300 dollars for a night somewhere else downtown that is clean. run far far away from this establishment. The phone also didnt work in the room, so they had to come not on our door for a wake up call. Aside from the roach and phone not... More

Plus point: The hotel location is very close to most attractions, very convenient to get to places and to most eateries. Minus: Clogged sink, had to bear with it for a night. Managed to get a different room the following day. Would've been nice if we didn't have to see black stuff coming out of the sink... =( Very busy... More

The pictures on the website do not look anything close to what the hotel looks like in person. The carpet in the room hasn't been cleaned properly in years. Mold and mildew is all over the bathroom. Comforters were stained and dirty when we arrived. Hotel staff was useless... no sense asking them directions. Elevators were very unreliable. One staff... More

We selected this hotel for a family visit to Chicago partly based on location, partly because we assumed that a branded chain hotel would meet some sort of minimal quality standards, and partly because we could get a room for 4. As it turned out, the location was indeed very good, just a block from the Magnificent Mile and a... More

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel a week or so ago. The only complaint I have is the elevator was very small but this is an older building & not much room to enlarge elevators. The front desk employees were great, especially Brenda! No matter what time of the day we went to the desk they were very helpful!... More

The price is good. The room is spacious and roomy. The room is air conditioned and the surroundings are quiet with friendly staffs. The hotel has good locations close to bus stops and train stations. there are vending machines for food snacks and drinks

Here's the good news: The Red Roof Inn on East Ontario Street is 50 yards from Michigan Ave. (the Magnificent Mile). It's within walking distance of the lake beaches, Navy Pier, the Chicago river boat tours, and LOTS of shopping and restaurants. The Grand Ave. EL train stop is a one mile walk away (Grand and State). There is a... More

Unless you get a really rock-bottom price, skip this place. There are other, better places all around this area, often at comparable prices. Our room's A/C did nothing except make noise while the hallways were dirty and staff distracted at best. While nobody expects Red Roof to rival the Intercontinental, I'd say this place is not very good, even for... More
