Perhaps my expectations were too high, but my overall experience here was somewhat disappointing. The standard room is very small, not even a reading chair. The sheets, towels and so forth were quite good however. One other plus - though our room faced on Michigan Ave., it was quiet, the city sirens barely audible. The biggest problem is the elevators.... More

Perfect location, walking distance to many interests. Beautiful art-deco building. Spacious suite (historic tower) with impressive views of river & city. The pool is from another world, must see even if not into swimming. The mattress & pillows very comfortable (soft/supportive) thank goodness & quiet. Excellent wi-fi, no problems. Staff pleasant. First night we had room service, the food was... More

We stayed in the newly renovated tower. The room was decorated in gray and black and very stately, neat and clean. The bed is comfy and bathroom is spacious. Nice to have a robe and honor bar is convenient although $7.00 is steep for a soft drink. Be careful not to move around items in the honor bar as they... More

Took me good 10 minutes to find hotel parking garage upon arrival. Front desk clerc helped us to get a better deal for us as we had our dog with us. In Room service includes food from Michael Jordans Steakhouse - which was great, $25 for burger but was worth it, fruit and cheese platter was good too. One downside... More

First -- the good. The shampoo and conditioner were excellent. We had a wonderful experience with one of the service staff (described below) The air conditioning worked well. (I like it really cold and it was.) The beds were comfortable and the black out curtains worked perfectly. We did not have a room in the historic tower, so most of... More

Two weeks ago my husband and I stayed the weekend at the Intercontinental on Michigan Ave. It was lovely, our room was great, the staff responsive and helpful until a man dressed as a business traveler tried to steal my wallet out of my purse in the elevator. I grabbed his arm as he tried to exit the elevator, said... More

For me, the location of the hotel was amazing. My wife and I came to this hotel to see one of our friends get married in the ballroom. We decided that it would be fun if we got a room to stay three nights. The first night was the night of our friend's wedding. When the wedding was finish, we... More

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location. We had a great great service. This service began even before we checked in when one of the great concierge staff, Rachel King, was totally professional in getting us a great array of outstanding dinner reservations. Check in was prompt an pleasant and we were given a great upgrade. My only... More

Just by the Tribune building this hotel is a great place to stay. Lots of stores and restaurants for all type of visitors. The rooms are a good size, clean and modern. The restaurant Michael Jordan is just at the lower floor, perfect for your last drink before you go to bed.

This hotel is conveniently located on Michigan Ave. I stayed in room 3005. The room was quaint and recently renovated. Beautiful view of the WGN Building and Trump Tower, especially at night. The room is equipped with a minibar. Be sure not to remove anything. The minibar items have sensors on them and you will be charged if anything is... More

Dear yminkc, We appreciate this opportunity to learn more about your recent stay. To begin, we are thrilled that you enjoyed your room in our newly renovated Executive Tower. The nighttime views are certainly hard to beat! That being said, we regret if we did not effectively communicate how the minibar sensors work. This is something we can improve on... More

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
