Had a wonderful 3-night stay at this hotel while attending a conference. Staff is top notch, very professioinal and accommodating. It is very busy outside, but upon stepping inside it's calm, quiet and humming along efficiently. My room was very nice and clean. Rooms are a little on the small side, but that is not ununsual for an older hotel... More

This hotel makes us europeans feel at home. Bed is very confortable and furniture in excellent status. The place is rather quiet for downtown but the very best is its olympic pool at the 12 th floor. I have never seen before such a nice decorated olympic pool . Like a cathedral from the 18 th century. It feels great... More

I stayed here for 3 nights. It was a great hotel. Great room and the location is perfect. It all ended on my last morning when I received my laundry back missing two items. One designer jean another pair of dress trousers, together worth several hundred dollars. It was reported and nothing came of it. It seems to just be... More

This is the second time I stayed at this hotel, both times for business. It's a very nice hotel, located right on Magnificent Mile and therefore convenient to shopping and other amenities of the city. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and they have a great little wine and chocolate bar attached to the hotel. The concierge staff can... More

A great location. I like the older side where the rooms have been redone. Very comfortable. Many elevators for access to the floors and/or lobby you might need. Starbuck's next door. Great taxi service at most any time if needed. You are on Michigan Avenue so everything is within reasonable walking distance. Close enough to the lake so easy distance... More

This is an average hotel for Chicago. Small rooms but comfortable beds and pillows! We enjoyed the coffee bar but you have to go to the lobby to get it every morning.Overall I would stay again if the price is right.

Our three night stay was even better than expected. The staff was immediately welcoming from opening our cab door to assisting with luggage to providing discounts for shopping to help with restaurants. I would expect an excellent experience from a hotel of this type. The InterContinental Chicago delivered. (I can not say that of two other Magnificent Mile hotels visited... More

Its location on Michigan Ave. is within easy walking distance of great restaurants, shops, and museums. Its staff was warm and friendly, from the bell men to the front desk clerks, the cleaning staff and the concierge staff. Our room was clean, neat and very comfortable and enjoyed a lovely view down Michigan Ave. to the bridge and Wrigley Building.... More

I had the opportunity to stay at the Intercontinental Hotel on a recent business trip. I was working on some product marketing materials, and I wanted to take some pictures of downtown and some of the sites. The location was perfect for this endeavor. Not only is the hotel located on Michigan Avenue, but it is within easy walking distance... More

Hosted a company conference for 70. Wonderful staff to work with: pre-meeting and during the event. All staff have smiles and can do attitude. Last minute changes for AV and room arrangements handled quickly and smoothly. Conference food was uniformly very good. Fabulous location on Michigan with a number of really great restaurants in walking distance, excluding the winter of... More

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
