Very nice hotel located on the Magnificat Mile shopping area to Michigan Ave. Rooms were well appointed and clean. Lobby Restaurant for dinner is Michael Jordan's steakhouse. Food was very delicious, but it is self seating and when busy is a bit chaotic to get a table as it is rather small. For breakfast there is a Starbucks but the... More

The Intercontinental in Chicago is an expensive hotel with lots of meeting space. The staff is about average-not rude, not particulary pleasant or welcoming. There is no lobby, which is annoying since there are many meetings in session at the same time and no place to sit down or network. Even though I hadn't requested it, I got an handicapped... More

I traveled in April 2015 to attend a conference and shared a room in the hotel's newer section with a friend. We both agreed that we would not choose this hotel again when so many other, more spacious options are available in the same area. We had a room on the 25th floor of the new tower with a view... I arrived at 7 PM, and there was a short line for check-in. It was quickly apparent that each guest took a long time. As an IHG member, I expected a quick check-in; not a chance. Each time I re-visited the desk, there was a long line. The bed was worn out at the edges. I was alone, so I... More

I was in Chicago for the HIMSS Conference and stayed at the Intercontinental on Michigan. My room was very nice - clean and nicely decorated. I think they need to update a bit and remove the room snacks. Does anybody really buy the $7.50 can of Coke? This would open the fridge for the guest to use. The staff was... More

This is a comfy grand address on the Miracle Mile. The location is perfect for walking almost any where. The Continental restaurant is just fair. Michael Jordan's place is a bit of typical celebrity owned kitchens. Too much emphasis on the name. For business it works very well.

For my first trip to Chicago this was a great hotel to stay at. I've been wanting to stay at an Intercontinental and finally was able to. The location of the hotel is perfect, it's close to everything on the Magnificent Mile and your surrounded by a lot of restaurants, department stores, and bars/clubs. They also recently renovated all the... More

The rooms are okay at best. My safe didn't work and they said they would swap it and replace it with a new one and they never did during the 2 days/nights at the hotel. The fitness room is tiny with low ceilings and old machines - and they charge almost $20 to use it!! They charge a lot for... More

I visited for a conference over Chicago spring break so we'll ignore the unattended kids running back and forth in the halls. The rooms were nice and modern. The hotel staff were great. Te food prices were just obscene - leave the hotel to eat. The elevators though - God help me. It wasn't unusual to wait 20 minutes for... More

Nice room with all the stuff you need for you business. 15 inch MacBook fits in the safe. So I'm happy. Location is great, airco is noisy. Make sure you are member of the loyalty program so the wifi is free and you get a free coffee in the hotel Starbucks.

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
