Stayed here for 4 nights, wonderful hotel. Comfy beds, brilliant location, super helpful staff. Don't be put off by the rubbish reviews, if you're looking for a convenient place to stay to explore Chicago then this place is perfect. Pay double for better wallpaper if you really want to, is rather spend my money in the city!

While situated in a great location, this icon of a hotel has a beautiful lobby and a nice bar with a pool table. But the rooms are really old and tired. We even had a newly renovated room with grout smeared all over the tiles in the bathroom (seriously need to get some new tile people doing their work). But... More

This hotel is definitely older, but it is charming, clean, and comfortable. We chose this hotel primarily for the location and price. It's directly across Michigan Ave. from Millennium Park and within walking distance (by our standards, at least) to the Shedd Aquarium (approximately 1 mile). Bathrooms could use some updating. Hotel's architecture was lovely. Bellhops were very friendly, but... More

The hotel seems to be an old property. However it is located in close proximity to the major attractions of the city. The rooms are spacious and clean. Do not have high expectations about the room decor and the washroom fittings.Perfect stay in great location at an affordable price.

*Nice location *Friendly staff *Very Charming, The rooms are a little "dated" BUT the furniture and bedding is all new and nice. *Only a short taxi cab from everything! We had a great time! Thank you! Overall I would recommend this hotel!

While some may not find the appeal in this hotel, I greatly appreciate the unique grandness. It is indeed old and some updates are in order, but the maze of hallways and tall grand ceilings reminisce of earlier years. The staircases and trim are built with an art that has been lost. Views of the lake are spectacular, the Art... More

We had a comfortable stay in this hotel that is situated in an excellent location. It is extremely close to the Grant park and is also walking distance to major attractions like Millennium Park and Museum Campus. Unfortunately the Buckingham fountain gets closed during the winter otherwise the beautiful lake-facing view would have been breath-taking. The hotel rooms were clean... More

Be aware that this hotel require an incidental of $160 on top what you owe for your booking to be charged upon your arrival. No one told us at booking. The rooms are very old but large. The day time temperature was in the 70's, but the rooms maintain a uncontrollable 50 degrees. We had to ask for a space... More

The price and location are good but the hotel is very run down. The furniture looked like it was from my Grandmother's basement. The staff was fine. It you are on a tight budget and want to stay in the heart of Chicago stay here just don't expect much for the rooms. The shower was fine though.

A nice place to stay. Walking distance to most attractions. The lobby areas don't match the charm of the historic building. Nice pub with a great selection of beverages. Rooms and bathrooms clean and well appointed. Some people might not like the old feeling in the rooms but age adds class.
