I liked that this hotel was close to everything. My husband had never been to Chicago before and I wanted to show him exactly why I love it so much. At check in, I was informed that an extra $142 was required for a security deposit. Funny story: I'd allowed them to take that deposit when we booked the room.... More

The Congress Plaza has a nice view of the lake and it's conveniently located with many Chicago attractions within a mile and easy access to the L a few blocks away. The price is low because the hotel is in need of refurbishment. If that doesn't bother you, the hotel has some beautiful touches from a bygone era like the... More

Carpets were filthy, room was not clean, stains on the bedding, no water pressure, plaster falling from ceiling and walls. The a/c was almost nonexistent. We asked to be moved to another room and were moved to a 3 room suite (for $750 per night!!). It was during the Taste of Chicagofest. Were woken up at about 5am by extremely... More

This is a very old hotel in the very area you want to be in if you don't want to drive or have a car. The interior is marble and big comfortable chairs just to people watch inside. The staff members of the concierge dept were so very helpful and gave us passes to the Skywatch which a previous vacationer... More

The good thing about this hotel is its location, it's located in the loop and very convenient for transportation. However the housekeeping service is just so so. The hotel room is clean but everything is pretty old.

Facing the lake and Buckingham Fountain, this hotel was perfectly located for our needs, within a reasonable budget. The room was clean, while simply furnished, with a large bathroom. We had an Inside "view", but my sister paid a supplement to enjoy a room with a stunning view on the lake and the park. We did not try the restaurants... More

Location was great. Close to all the museums and parks we wanted to visit. Hotel is old however clean. The staff were friendly. Our room was always very clean and stocked with plenty of towels. The hotel is also close to shopping stores and places to dine.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location, and that's what you're paying for. It's practically inside Grant Park, on the famous Michigan Avenue, a few minutes walk from the Magnificent Mile, a pleasant walk away from the Museum Campus, a few minutes walk away from Buckingham Fountain and Lake Michigan, a short bus ride away from Navy... We got a Priceline Express deal so we were given a great rate for peak season in a great location. Because of this our expectations were low. The hotel was fine, room was clean enough but VERY small. Maybe it is the one given to the Priceline people? It is located at a marked fire escape exit, so in an... More

The Congress Plaza is located in the heart of the Chicago Loop, convenient to everything. Whatever you can't walk to is available by public transportation. We had a classy King room overlooking the Buckingham Fountain (remember Married with children?) The room was clean and well appointed. The A/C was cool and quiet. Everything was just fine. If this room was... More
