I really enjoy looking out over Grant Park, seeing the sunrise over Lake Michigan each morning from my room at the Congress Plaza Hotel. The rooms are spacious, the windows actually open, and the location is convenient to downtown, the EL trains, and Millennium Park. Some rooms are furnished with cool antique furniture, obviously well-used (chips and dings) but still... More

if you're looking for brand new/state of the art, this is not the place for you. However, if you are a history buff and love feeling like you're taking a step back in time, this is a place to see. There's almost a museum-like feel to the hotel - nearly everything is very old. My husband and I anticipated and... More

I stayed at the Congress Plaza on the weekend of September 26th 2014. Great location if you want to be near things like Willis (Sears) Tower, Soldier Field, Union Station.. the Metra and the EL trains. The place has a nice bar which I needed while waiting for my buddy to arrive. Very friendly people. It was close to a... More

I was looking forward to a great visit, because I love the architectural aspect of this hotel. I was greatly disappointed as soon as I walk in the doors. The architecture was beautiful and the hotel has a lot of history, but it is in need of many many updates. Our room was extremely dingy and old and I felt... More

A very nice option when you´re in low cost trip !!! You´ll be close to the best attractions of Chicago - Millenium Park, Aquarium, Institute Art, Magnificant Mile,... and you´ll pay a lot less than the others options. But better bear in mind, the building is quite old... but definetely worth.

Congress Hotel is old but comfortable. I was a guest between October 5 and October 11, 2014 in room 1238. I fully paid for my room. However, my wife's credit card, which was used to book the room was debited with an additional 200 dollars and I was told the money would be put back a few days after I... More

Nice hotel, but it is old and needs renovation. We stayed for 5 days and really enjoyed it because it was close to the Magnificent Mile which is expensive but it's worth seeing. The rooms were nice and clean but certain things were outdated and were old, other than that everything went smoothly. The staff were also nice.

McCormick Convention center an easy cab or shuttle ride away. Quiet rooms on inner courtyards available. Close to Art Institute, short walk to Blue Line to ORD. Only drawback is that our room door needed hard pull to close properly, and we found it left ajar after maid had departed.

My wife and I stayed here during the weekend of October 12, 2014 while I ran the Chicago Marathon. This was the least expensive of the hotels offered by the touring company. $225 per night plus tax, three night minimum. This was an excellent location for my marathon. However, the hotel is older and needs some upgrading. It cost us... More

The hotel was perfect. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, everyone was right there to help. Free internet, great history, fun attitude. LOVED the feel of the place. You walk into the room imagining the past. No terrible scary things happened, but the place just carries the air - which is awesome. Loved all parts of this experience. My... More
