Decent older hotel. The rooms with a view of the lake and fountain are the best choice if you plan to stay here. Close to the cool sculptures in Millennium Park as well. The halls in the north tower are extremely narrow, so the best option is the south tower. Hotel parking is right next door.

I was worried after reading some of the online reviews of the Congress Plaza, but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The place has lots of 19th century charm, an excellent location, and a very affordable price. While there were some (in my opinion minor) examples of cosmetic wear-and-tear, such as cracked bathroom tile and chipped woodwork paint,... More

This hotel has so much history behind it- visits from movies stars to presidents. The mosaic tile work in the lobby is amazing and is currently being restored. However, the furniture in the lobby was so shabby- and not chic! Our room was huge by today's standards. The bed was comfortable, but again, the bed frame has seen better days.... More

We were looking for a hotel near most of the attractions and settled on the Congress Plaza Hotel. Check in/out was easy and the staff were nice. The rooms were spacious too, but the hotel as a whole was old and dated. If you are just looking for a bed to sleep in and are not concerned with all of... More

The hotel was built in the late 1890. Some of the main rooms downstairs have some gothic architecture which is excellent. The rooms and hallways are in need of a bit of tlc? Good location and friendly staff.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights for a brief visit with friends because it was cheap compared to other hotels in downtown Chicago. The lobby is OK, outdated but not completely unpleasant. However, the room and hallways were a different story. The second you step off of the elevator you enter a creepy hallway with dim lighting and... More

I stayed here over the last weekend when I was in town for a conference. The location was great. It is right across from Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain, on Michigan Avenue. Many attractions are within easy walking distance. The people were nice. I had no problems at check-in, and my room was always made up properly. The room was... More

For the view and nostalgia this hotel gets an A+ - but for modern comfort it's not even a 2 star - and forget about the Wifi - it's non existent and as frustrating as anything. I wouldn't stay there again and I wouldn't recommend - unless your hotel stay is all about the view!

What his hotel makes us for in location (great) and rates (reasonable), it lacks in maintenance and attention to detail. During our stay we had to move from our first room due to a problem with the phone line, then stayed in a room where we literally had to run the water for five minutes to get it hot enough... More

We stayed at the Congress Plaza when we had an overnight layover in Chicago. Although the hotel shows its age, It is clean and is in a convenient location. The hotel located near Millennium Park and the world renowned Bean. The Congress Plaza Hotel is about six blocks from Union Station and is accessible by walking or by taking the... More
