I try to put some positive with any negative review I give and the positive to this one Is the location. Right on MI Ave near all the parts, museums etc. Also I think the carpet in our room was fairly new... but it goes downhill from there. As many have said this is an old property in desperate need... Rooms had little air conditioning. Our hotel room needed an extreme makeover... Peeling paint, old fixtures, musty smell. I also killed a rather large spider in our 11th floor room. After we checked out we waied for one hour to get our car from the valet service. Overall--Not worth the $$

We decided to stay here when moving our son into his college dorm. His dorm (The University Center) is not even two blocks away, which made the move easy. Also, the hotel is on Michigan Avenue, right across from the Museum Campus and Grant Park. There is so much to see in that area! Besides the park and museums and... More

Pros - it was downtown, great location. The hotel was gorgeous and the staff were lovely. The rooms were spacious and the view we had of the city was second to none. Cons - elevators are old and slightly scary, they close a bit too quick at times too. The doors to go into the corridors some times needed a... More

This hotel is absolutely the worst, the rooms are very dirty and all need maintenance, the shower was bad and the bathroom floors were very old also the AC can't be maintained as well as a terrible sewer system. For 189 dollars a night this hotel doesn't worth $50, I regret every penny I paid because Amazing hotels were around... More

Our original room was awful. Moldy, broken, and no upkeep. We were moved to a "remodelled" room, which was better, but still not worth the price. Rooms are not cleaned well. Housekeeping quality is poor. Maintenance is clearly not done routinely. No water pressure at all, even by hotel standards. The lobby is dead. Escalators not working. Restaurant closed most... More

I booked this hotel for one night as a stop over from traveling with my friends. We arrived late and the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. We got up to the room and it was huge! Booked for two people but could easily fit four in comfortably. It had all of the facilities we needed including a great... More

Great location and very beautiful from the outside. We got to our floor (11) and it stunk like bleach cleaners. No big deal. Get our room (1169) and it smells worse. Looking around at the room and see black mold on the register. Who let's a person stay in a room like this? 100% not right. We asked for new... More

Truth be told, I was very skeptical about staying here. I read the reviews and was worried that I had spent non refundable money (Hotwire) on a hotel my wife and I were gonna hate. We got on the small elevator and headed to our room. When we got to our floor, the smell was of cleaning products. That made... More

The location and price were great. The drawbacks is that the bathrooms are out of date, our toilet ran frequently and the place in general is need of a refresh. I skipped breakfast, but a friend told me it was horrible, the bar was nothing special.
