We had a great time at the hotel on a trip for a Miami Dolphins @ Chicago Bears NFL game, the hotel is like 30min walking distance to Soldier Field, and have very spacious rooms. We went here in a group of Dolphins Fans and the hotel staff was always very helpful and friendly with us, they said we were... More

The Congress Hotel is the strangest tragedy of a hotel I've ever experienced. It's a tragedy because the building itself has some great history and no one seems to care about reflecting that within the hotel rooms. Now, it is not a dirty place and the staff are all lovely. But the rooms are slapdash and uninspired. The walls are... More

We stayed here for a week as were in Chicago for a conference. This hotel is situated on Michigan Avenue and close to everything downtown and on the Loop. Be that as it may, the hotel needs work. The rooms are small and outdated and the hallways need a major facelift. The room also had a weird smell, the heating/cooling... More

I stayed this hotel for conference with my friend who got PREGNANT. I made a reservation at Priceline for non-smoking double bad. When we checked in around 9 pm, they just gave us "SMOKING ROOM" without asking our preference!!!!!! EVEN they didn't mentioned that they don't have non-smoking room. This hotel is really shabby, so we thought that it stinks... More

We stayed here for 1 night in April 2015. Thank god it was only one night! It is a very old hotel and you can tell once you get to your room by the decor, the falling apart trim, and smell. First, the room had no heat or air control. The unit did not work and it was soo stuffy... More

I booked my stay here after looking around for hotels that were central to downtown Chicago, yet weren't going to break the bank booking just a few weeks out. Coming from Boston myself, I have a deeper appreciation for historical buildings and the atmosphere that they can create. I think this may have led to me writing off some of... More

We went to a conference hosted by The Congress Hotel and lunch was served. The service was poor and the food served to us was inedible! The salad was wilted, the lasagna not only looked disgusting, but tasted it as well. The water even tasted bad. To top it off, there was a dead moth on my husbands plate.

I recently stayed at the Congress Plaza for the HIMSS 15 conference. My company booked the hotel. I highly advise do not stay at this property. It is very old and outdated. I thought I was in the 1920s or 1930s. The room has not been updated for very long time. The TV is about 20 inches. The free wireless... More

The Congress Plaza is in a very good location in Chicago for whatever you're traveling there to do. I have no complaints about the service staff. they were all very friendly and helpful. However, that's about where it ends. The rooms smelled a little musty and there was no air. We raised the windows and purchased a fan from the... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
