We stayed here for 1 night in April 2015. Thank god it was only one night! It is a very old hotel and you can tell once you get to your room by the decor, the falling apart trim, and smell. First, the room had no heat or air control. The unit did not work and it was soo stuffy... More

I booked my stay here after looking around for hotels that were central to downtown Chicago, yet weren't going to break the bank booking just a few weeks out. Coming from Boston myself, I have a deeper appreciation for historical buildings and the atmosphere that they can create. I think this may have led to me writing off some of... More

I recently stayed at the Congress Plaza for the HIMSS 15 conference. My company booked the hotel. I highly advise do not stay at this property. It is very old and outdated. I thought I was in the 1920s or 1930s. The room has not been updated for very long time. The TV is about 20 inches. The free wireless... More

Property reminiscint of a grander time . As an older property this hotel is still a historical gem . We had a prefect view of the park that was world class . With In walking distance to many of the sites . Staff was wonderful .

The Congress Plaza is in a very good location in Chicago for whatever you're traveling there to do. I have no complaints about the service staff. they were all very friendly and helpful. However, that's about where it ends. The rooms smelled a little musty and there was no air. We raised the windows and purchased a fan from the... More

I was almost afraid to book this hotel after reading some of the reviews. I wanted a hotel close to Columbia College. Yes the hotel is old and could use some updating, but it was very clean and the staff was very polite and helpful. Our room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. I will definitely stay here again.

On a recent stay at this hotel, I left my personal bag in my room for the day with an I-pod in it. The next morning, I left the very same bag at baggage claim in the hotel while attending a meeting. Two days after checking into the Congress Hotel,on my way home, I discovered that my I-pod was missing.... More

Ever since seeing this hotel in Chicago for the first time in 2003, I have wanted to stay here. Finally got the chance! We booked under a fabulous rate and received an upgrade upon check-in. Front desk staff very nice. Valet parking is $44, but at the Hyatt further down Michigan you'd pay $65 and a higher rate, so we... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
