All around: It's not a hotel I would book again. It's a beautiful landmark but something's just not right. I will start with the rooms. The higher you go up the larger they are and the smaller their windows (the TV in my room was larger than the windows) - but they did open up and had a ridiculously beautiful... More

Where to start. Stayed 5 nights, North tower 4th floor. I will never take hot water for granted again. Or a bed that doesn't bend completely in the middle, or closet doors that open all the way, or air conditioning that works... This place was a mess. I had seen the bad reviews but was here for an event at... More

every element of this 1893 property looks like its "original". everything, every surface, every service is just plain old and worn out. not even hot water works. At any price, this is not a bargain. ugh

I stayed at the Congress Plaza in May 2015 for a conference that was also held there. First impression was that the hotel was once quite grand but that it hadn't been well cared-for over the years. The spaces are clean and large with high ceilings and lots of marble but everything feels dated and tired. It clearly hasn't had... More

I stayed at the Congress Plaza Hotel for 4 days for a convention hosted there, the hotel is a little run down, dirty carpets, old furniture, bathrooms nothing special, in conclusion a just below average hotel. The most disturbing problem that I encountered was the inconsistent customer service from the hotel employees. The hostess at the pizzeria was nice and... More

Staying five nights at this place was a HUGE mistake -given the much nicer hotels within walking distance of this decrepid establishment. We stayed here for it was the host hotel for a convention, but the broken up meeting space, the rude staff members, the dirty facility all added up to NEVER AGAIN! The two housekeeping women servicing the South... More

The Congress Plaza was a new experience hotel from the upscale modern hotels. The hotel was welcoming and interesting to say. It rest on Michigan Avenue; rooms are different than your average hotel room, and the bathroom is small, no vanity space and the shower is comfortable for one. Great location and it does serve its purpose as a cozy... More

Struggling to find a room in Chicago because of a big Microsoft conference I was left with a harsh choice - nice hotel at $600+, stay in Wilmette at a Residence Inn for $70 - or stay in the Congress Plaza Hotel for $125. Went for the combination of central location and cheaper option - but although the Congress Plaza... More

Just got back from a Memorial Day event. In past years, it has been scheduled at better properties (Hyatt, Marriott). This year, for some unknown reason, the powers that be selected this place. Apparently, the hotel has been renovated - at least some of the public spaces. It does have a certain faded grandeur of old, in the lobby and... More

First they allocated me a room on a seoarate wing og the hotel that probably used to be the servants abodes. After complaining znd threatening yo leave i was given a room in the centre of the hotel. Nonetheless the place is spooky from another world of Scarface and Al Capone. Coul
