Right on Michigan ave, across from the park, this is a excellent location. Hotel is older but clean. Great staff. Walking to Grant Park makes thus the perfect spot if you are coming to Chicago for any Grant Park events.

I want to give this hotel five stars, but there are a few blemishes that cause me to refrain from that. Its historical significance can not be understated, and its location is sublime. The service and staff were good, and in the case of Bobby, our server for breakfast each morning, the service was excellent. Unfortunately, the hotel is in... More

We ended up at Chicago Midland airport at 1am in the morning with nowhere to go and all hotels in the airport vicinity totally booked. My daughter looked on her i-phone and found this hotel at this last minute. Even though we did not check in until about 2:30am, the staff was professional and courteous. I just loved the old... More

The best thing about this hotel is its location. I give it 3 out of 5, only for the location. The hotel itself is very old. The room I stayed in was updated but was very small. The high ceilings helped you feel less claustrophobic but it was still a small room. The parking was outrageous ($39 a day). So,... More

This place is very run down and unkept. You can tell that the rooms are in deperate need of renovation and repair. The bathroom grout was so disgusting, and all the the trim within the room seemed to be falling apart. The carpet was old and stained, and the wallpaper was peeling. The only thing good about this hotel was... More

This Chicago's oldest hotel lives to its words - IT IS OLD and has never been through any kind of renovation whatsoever. 1. I tried to press my nice dress shirt using their iron and something on the box ruined my shirt 2. The sharp edges of the furniture can really break your bones! Be careful when you bring kids... More

The Congress is showing it's age but is still a very comfortable and convenient lakefront hotel. Facing Grant Park, it is a very good value for it's location. The older interior could use some renewal, but it is still clean, comfortable and guest friendly. When comparing the price to the newer luxury hotels, some not as well located, it must... More

My friends and I moved to this hotel because it was very close to northerly island where we were seeing DMB. Back in this hotel's prime, our room would have been the best one. We had 2 king beds, a fair amount of space, and two huge windows overlooking the Lake Michigan. However this hotel is so dated that you... More

The location is great. The hotel is old and for its age is well kept. The staff seemed a little on edge and short but it was an extremely busy holiday weekend. The house keeping was great. They cleaned up every day of our 4 day stay. The restaurant s were overpriced for the food quality so we ate at... More

This hotel was disappointing in so many ways. Firstly, it's really old - everything is outdated. One of the four curtains wouldn't close. There was no temperature control, just low, medium or high. All four windows were closed but none were locked (lucky I checked!). There was no fridge. For some reason, the bathroom door opened outwards but couldn't swing... More
