I have stayed at the Congress Plaza Hotel several times. The location is absolutely perfect. The rooms and halls have not been updated in a long time. It is clean, just very outdated. Definitely stay in a lake view room. The view is amazing. The view and location can make you forget about the small bathrooms and dated rooms.

Best location in the down town of Chicago. The hotel is very antique. But if can choose the room that facing the Buckingham Fountain will be the great. The best part is this hotel Is surrounding with lots of attraction areas. In front of hotel is the famous Grant Park’s most notable features include Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain, the Art... Location was good, about 10 minute walk from the blue line (direct from airport). Hotel was close to Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain, and easy access to bus to River North and other locations. Hotel itself was not great. It was freezing in the room without any option to turn up the heat. I had to sleep with my cardigan and... More

We selected this for the location, and pretty much from the beginning, the customer service was terrible. I was double-charged when I first booked the room, and the problem was eventually fixed only after I spoke to three or four different people on the phone - none of whom offered a single apology. Like others have written, the rooms are... More

I booked the Congress for my sister's Bachelorette Party.. and we had a great stay. We had a two bedroom suite. It was clean and spacious. The hotel lobby is beautiful. The rooms are a little dated, but we did not mind. I would return.

This hotel is ideally located for walking to museums, shops, restaurants, lake, parks and many Chicago landmarks. The staff are great; very friendly, helpful and good at their respective roles. The hotel itself is in big need of upgrades and refurbishments. However it was clean and functional.

This was a birthday trip for my son's 13th birthday. I definitely overpaid and would NOT give this hotel a 4-star rating. We were on the 11th floor, after we finally found our room, it was little to be desired. Mind you I knew we were staying at a historic hotel, but this place smelled so bad and you could... More

My partner and I stayed here in late August 2015. We both loved the hotel. The hotel offers very affordable rates for a downtown Chicago location (just southeast of the Loop), so I was expecting mediocre accommodations. But I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel is! My room was very spacious and well-furnished, and very clean. The... More

Exposed wires in room, broken glass in hallway, bathroom so scary both of us refused to take a shower. This is the cheapest hotel on the mile but not worth it. Should have spent $100 more and been happy.

Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours.
