When I first walked into my room, I was a little disappointed. The appearance was not at all consistence with the grand lobby and traditional decor. My room felt very "industrial" with painted metal doors and contemporary "cold" furnishing. It was also huge and felt like a dormitory: one large room (2 beds) flanked by two separate baths. I was... We recently stayed at the Hilton Chicago on Michigan Avenue for the Transamerica Chicago Triathlon. We checked in just fine, but our room was far below what I expect from Hilton. It was dirty, dusty, had cobwebs behind the lounge chair, and carpeting that was in bad need of replacement. I didn't want to take off my shoes to walk... More

We parked and were immediately greeted by a bell hop who assisted with our luggage. He was very helpful. The check in process was easy and the person behind the desk was doing her best to find us the best room possible. We could get a room immediately, or wait for one with a lake view - we waited, as... Parking is too expensive here!! Parking was $70 per DAY here but we parked 1 block away at a self parking lot for $25 per day. Well worth the one block walk. This hotel has an absolutely amazing gym facility with a proper track, tons of cardio machines, and everything you'd need (for big strong guys to people who want... More

I stayed here the weekend of Lollapalooza, a large music festival, and the hotel was packed. The elevators broke, so we had to take the stairs to our 12th floor room. We also tried to call the front desk and housekeeping to get fresh towels (our room was not cleaned), but it took me over an hour to get through... More

Never in my life. I've traveled around the country, through Europe, stayed in upscale hotels in cities and small towns, and I've never seen a bug the size of the roach that apparently has been living for quite some time in the room on the 18th floor of the Hilton Chicago. That happy roach was nearly 3" long, 1" wide... More

Paid $220 for a one night stay. Staff was nice. Kitty O'Sheas had good over priced food. Bed was comfortable. Pretty much all I can say positive about this place. We chose this hotel for the proximity to the aquarium. Should of stayed at the Travelodge around the corner and saved $100. Paid extra $$ to be "allowed" on the... More

Stayed here for my sister's last night in Chicago before moving back to the UK. The room we had was lovely, great view, high floor, huge, modern and clean. The thing that let the stay down was the service. The gentleman that collected our bags from our room was impersonal, and rude. We had another encounter with him when needing... More

Nice Hotel. Its older but still very nice. The attached Irish pub was great. Our room had two bathrooms and two double beds. The double beds seemed on the smaller side. We're not big people so it worked out ok for us, not sure it would work for anyone on the larger side.

The Hotel is perfectly located on michigan ave, close to Main attractions as millenium park, museums and the river. This hotel is a historical building worth taking the time to visit. To lobby entrance is awesome, as are all the historical facts the hotel has. It is also huge so it is very busy everywhere which makes thing a bit... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
