It is not a bad place when you are travelling on a small budget or just transiting through downtown Chicago, Staff is really helpful and welcoming. Downstairs' has a nice thai restaurant that opens upto 10 pm or so and comes very handy. Rooms are basic but OK for short stays. You won't mind the ease of strolling into downtown... More

They Travelodge was not fancy, but had everything we needed in a great location for half the price of anywhere else nearby.

happy with my room. It was very clean and the linens in the bathroom were great. Much more then I expected. The restaurant served a great breakfast and lunch. I just wished there had been a wall bar in the bathtub as entering and leaving the tub was a little slippery.

Chicago is a city of very expensive hotels. The Traveldoge is one of the few budget hotels and for that you do have to make some compromises. The hotel is old and the rooms small. There is a bit of stale smell and a lot of the fittings are a bit rickety while the air conditioning is old and noisy.... More

The A/c unit was broken and the room was very warm. There were no screens or safety devices on the windows so we couldn't open them with a three year old in the room. There was a pipe in the room that was extremely hot, unfortunately my child found it before we did and had a reddened back from the... More

The location is very useful for staying downown, so that you are just a short cab ride away from anywhere else downtown. The hotel is 2 blocks from the train also, which is convenient, but noisy. It has a two GREAT restaurants attached to the lobby for great breakfast or lunch, or Thai dinners. These restaurants were the best part... More

I stayed at this location from May 14 - May 17. The hotel itself was fine and adequately clean for the price, but I had an unsettling incident with an employee there. When we checked in at around midnight, I discovered our radiator was on and called the front desk to send someone to turn it off (I'm from Florida... More

My room on the 12th floor 1223 was constantly noisy. There was something like an engine running over the remount about 9:30 pm, then at 7:30 am all kinds of drilling was gong on what sounded like to be in the walls. I called the front desk one night and was told there was nothing they could do. I complained... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
