I stayed here for 3 nights. Overall I was rather disappointed after reading the very high ratings here. The hotel is clean and my room was a decent size but it is rather basic and shabby. The food is really not that great and the service was terrible throughout my stay. I am under the impression that the staff feel... More

As a business traveler, I stayed in ULC for a week. I was very busy and mostly used the Gym and had casual breakfast at the Gym-Pool area. Never had a chance to take an art tour or been in the ULC restaurants. Briefly peeked into the library, wished I had time to spend time in the library. Surprisingly, it... More

My family has been members of the Union League Club for several years and it's been a dependable, private escape in downtown Chicago. The rooms aren't anything fancy, and it definitely has an older feel to it, so it may not be appealing for a younger crowd. It's ideally suited for the business traveler with plenty of areas for a... I went there with a friend of mine and his colleagues. We first enjoyed an atmosphere typical of a quiet high level English pub, with plenty of choice for Appetizers. then we moved one level lower into the restaurant. I ate one of the best steaks I ever eat in my life, perfectly made. Also the "antipasti" were very good,... More

The Union League Club is simply the best private club in the country. Great food, wonderful people, and beautiful amenities. They have made a lot of upgrades over the past few years and it can't be beat. To stay downtown in the loop for the prices it's great. You'll need to have reciprocal privileges through another club, but if you... More

It was only one night so I decided to stay at the Union League Club based only on it's proximity to my meeting. Room 1030 turned out to be small but nicely appointed. The bathroom had been renovated fairly recently in marble. The shower was really beautiful. Gilchrist & Sames toiletries completed a nice experience. On the minus side the... More

If you want something different, this certainly fits the bill. It is not a chain and the staff are very efficient and courteous. I stayed overnight here as part of a business conference and had never stayed here before. But I got the feeling that the Club is mainly designed for wealthy white male Republicans and their (male) offspring. I... More

We belong to a suburban country club and had "reciprocity" or privileges to stay at the Union League Club of Chicago. My husband and I enjoyed a one night get-away from our young children. Check-in was easy and polite. We stayed in a suite. The room was clean and in good shape. Our bed was extremely comfortable with the pillow... More

I have also posted a review about the greatness of the ULC but this time I have had also a room. The rates are great and the comfort, size, and coziness of the room outstanding. if you want to be in the city and have great access to the financial district, sights, restaurants - all in walking distance - chose... Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
