I highly recommend Ray's as an alternative to Chicago hotels. It is located in Bucktown, a lovely quiet and safe neighborhood about ten minutes from The Loop and 15 minutes from O'Hare airport by CTA (train). Ray offered to pick me up and drop me at the train if the weather was bad, and he did one day. The breakfasts... More

We have stayed at Ray's three times over the last two years because it is near family. It is fun to pick a different room each time. The breakfasts are made to order and are absolutely delicious. They are great about helping you find restaurants and attractions in the area. All the staff are friendly and helpful.

Ray's B and B was the obvious choice, being just 5 short blocks from my daughter's home. A variety of rooms (with and without cat visitation) on different floors, including a main floor for the stair phobic, give a traveler choice, rooms are comfy most with private bathrooms, and easily referenced on their website. There are photographs decorating ample public... More

Ray and his staff are extremely helpful and customer oriented. The breakfasts were huge and very well prepared with fresh ingredients. The décor is very eclectic, and they were flexible with our tandem storage. The other guests were friendly and open. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed in the Da Vinci room and paid $220 a night. The comfort of the beds was not that great. There was a wall unit air conditioner right at the head of the bed blowing in my ear all night. Not to mention how cold it was.We had to have it on or it was too hot to sleep.Disappointing! Ray was very... More

We appreciate our guest taking the time to write the review, but it is always most helpful to bring up any issues with the small business owner or manager while still at the B & B. We love helping, and we will usually bend over backwards to make our guests feel comfortable and their stay as enjoyable as possible. All... More

We stayed for 8 nights in the da Vinchi Room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts are extremely generous with a big choice and a 'special' every day. With up to 11 rooms, there were always interesting people to talk to and Ray tries very hard to make everyone comfortable and assist wherever possible. The room we had (largest... More

Very quaint warm place. i stayed in 3 different room in a recent 5 night stay, so I got an idea of the room variety. Pros: -great location in residential neighborhood -free bottled water -free wifi -free cable and comcast DVR -upstairs rooms are comfortable -free breakfast, cooked to order Cons: -avoid the east room, west room and cardinal. The... More

Rays is the coolest, funkiest and hippest place we have ever stayed. Decor is really interesting! Ray has the largest collection of Red Wing pottery in the world! It is clean and comfortable. The delicious and amazing breakfasts are made by friendly staff who will do whatever it takes to please. Ray is doing it right. I overheard the staff... More

The most outstanding thing about this place was breakfast - really excellent. Location is in nice neighborhood and it takes you ten minutes to walk to the "West" metro station from where trains run to downtown in a further ten minutes. We liked our "room with a view" (as it was called) but I think other rooms are not as... More

We want to thank the guest for the kind words and for staying with us. We did want to clarify that we do offer to clean the rooms each day (as stated on the first page of the guest book we leave on each bed), please just let us know! We bend over backwards to make sure everyone’s stay is... More

We love this place! Ray went way above and beyond to meet our needs. He has a very cool B & B, but his love of hospitality makes this place unique. We would highly recommend it for others and look forward to coming back.
