I loved staying at this hotel with my husband while we were visiting Chicago for a U2 concert. It's in a great location, with the LaSalle St Blue Line station in a short walking distance, so we were able to use the Blue Line to commute from and to O'Hare and the United Center. It's also within 20 minutes walking... More

we are frequent travelers to Chicago, having lived there years ago, and have stayed at about every boutique hotel in the Loop, Printers Row and Lincoln Park but never at teh Buckingham until recently. The South and West Loop areas are thriving and the Buckinhgam is ideally located for both. It's on all public transit routes, easy access from either... More

I enjoyed my stay there. The room was very nice and the view and staff were excellent. Its an odd boutique-style hotel that takes up just half of one floor of a 40 story building. The room key is an actual physical key that comes with a one pound cumbersome key ring. They suggest that you leave it at the... More

Location: we arrived by taxi and it was a little tricky to find the entrance. It is the tallest building on the street and easy to find when you know that. It is less than a two minute walk from the LaSalle L station. Check-in: the reception is in the lobby area of the building. The building is an office... More

If you enjoy surprises and new experiences, you will like the Buckingham Athletic Club Hotel. We've been to Chicago many times and have stayed in chain hotels, luxury hotels, & boutique hotels all over my favorite city. I booked this reservation based on the great rate I found and on the reviews posted here on Trip Advisor. I was concerned... More

Great location next to the loop and breath taking views from the 40th floor make this a fabulous hotel. While it is close to public transportation it is also situated so that you can walk to a lot of interesting locales in the city. The breakfast room is really cool too with picture windows overlooking the streets passing underneath. The... More

We stumbled across this hotel when researching for our holiday. I always try and book hotels based on accessibility to public transport, and being right on The Loop this hotel fitted the bill perfectly. But location is the least of its virtues... Thanks to the lovely Angela, we were upgraded to a suite due to it being our honeymoon, and... More

This hotel is exceptional value. We stayed here for 3 nights, initially in a suite and then in a regular room. Many previous reviewers have documented the excellent quality of the rooms. As the facility is adjacent to the Stock Exchange building and next to the Chicago Board of Trade, there are many first class business services immediately available in... More

If you stay in this hotel, you can skip the observation decks in the tallest skyscrapers. The view from the rooms is simply amazing. Ask for a room facing north. I stayed in room 4012 and I had a 180 degrees view of the whole downtown and the lake. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the lake and... More

We were passing through Chicago by train and found this incredible hotel near the station. It's perfect all-around - a small hotel perched atop the city. Incredible views, breakfast over a main street, executive gym, and a great price for what you get. It's in perfect shape even though a tad out of date. The staff are all helpful too.... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
