The Standard Club welcomes hotel guests to participate in their private athletic club facilities and activities. I appreciated Wednesday's 7:00AM yoga class, full-sized swimming pool, and sunlit women's locker room with good reading materials, etc. The king guest room was spacious, quiet, had good-sized windows with an extremely comfortable, firm bed. It's an older, classic/elegant hotel, and the slightly worn... More

The Standard Club is an excellent place to stay if you need to be in this central location downtown Chicago. Yes, the Club needs updating and more modern amenities , but as you walk around and see decor from an earlier era, there is a feeling of the elegance of past times. Mad Men could have filmed a scene in... More

Just ran an event at this club- impressed by staff (responsive/respectful), food (diverse and good quality) and decor (nice mix of old clubby with updated accents). Rooms are OK, but its a private club and usually the rooms are not exceptional, over-the-top or the reason you stay. It had all the amenities of a high-end room, but the carpet was... More

I visit Chicago at least once per year and always love it. This was the first time I stayed at the Standard Club and I cannot say too strongly what a lovely experience it was. I read other reviews that suggested that it was far from downtown but I found it to be within a block or two of State... More

The hotel has an excellent location, our room (Deluxe King) was spacious, and service was friendly. Parking/valet service was very reliable. There is a lack of elecrtical outlets, but at least the hotel provides a power strip, so that was helpful. However, the Wi-Fi is not good. Could barely connect our devices to it. The front desk staff said that... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are so happy you enjoyed your visit. Our rooms are larger than average and with all of them on the outside of the building they are airy and light. We are currently researching a Wi-Fi upgrade, I am glad our staff forwarded that information... More

Excellent food, service, and old-Chicago charm. By no means is there anything contemporary about the Standard Club, and that's what makes it such a treat. Hotel rooms could use some tlc, but are generally fine. Banquet space/restaurant is beautiful and the wait staff is friendly, helpful, and efficient.

I enjoy staying at private clubs over hotels. The Standard Club seems to cater to Chicago financial district types. It doesn't have a vibrant social scene (aside from the numerous private events) and is pleasantly private and sedate. As for the rooms, they were fine but definitely in need of a cosmetic makeover. The main floors of the hotel are... More

I have stayed at this club several times while traveling for business. Overall my stays have been pleasant but lately I have had some small issues. The best rooms I have stayed in are the ones with the large bathtub, though I have found not all rooms have those tubs. The walls are thin; I could hear everything my neighbors... More

We stayed here for a wedding and it was lovely. Its a little dated, but I think that's what makes it so nice. Members are everywhere so it's a little weird if you're staying and aren't a memeber I felt like, but overall it was a positive experience. The beds were nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful.... More

I believe you still must be a member or know someone who is to stay here. This stay was a gift from my daughter. 75 years ago my father was a cook at their restaurant, he had just passed, so this was a heart tugging visit. Now I know why my dad always said, "This is the way the Standard... More
