traveling with teen daughter - spending some time in Chicago before she starts a summer program downtown. Booked 3 nights in a double (two beds) room with shared bath. From past reviews to book a room on a higher floor. Unfortunately, the rooms and halls were being painted and the 4th floor paint smell was too much. Asked at the... More

I live in the (not very sure) 12-bed female dormitory, it certainly worths the value, given that it can be really expensive living in the packed city of Chicago. The room, the bed, and the washroom are all very clean, as well as the common place. Staff there were friendly and helpful. Breakfast were good with a couple of choices... More

We were in Chicago for 3 nights, 2 days and after reading the positive reviews on Tripadvisor we booked a private room at a cost of $99 per night. The check in service was very efficient and staff were very helpful finding a free room despite the fact we had arrived long before check in. However, the remainder of the... More

Location is beautiful in an old neighborhood in Chicago. Room was clean, ac was able to be controlled in room which was great for our 93 degree day! Shower was huge, but interestingly even though bathroom in room had a vent system there were multiple 2" holes drilled in the top and bottom of the bathroom door?! Pillow left something,... More

Chicago Getaway Hostel offers decent, affordable accommodations in the otherwise extremely high-priced Windy City, for young and seniors alike. It's conveniently located near Lincoln Park/Zoo and about 4 blocks from the train station (red and brown lines). It's about two miles or further from the City Center - a fun walk or take the train. My wife and I are... More

I've stayed in dorms in college, but never in a hostel. Had to, as everything was sold out. Wanted to like this place, some it is quite good. I did extensive research of reviews, almost all said it was clean & safe--which is a priority for a place with so many people from around the world in shared spaces--it absolutely... More

live_from_London, First off, I would like to thank you for your detailed review, and your feedback regarding your recent experience. It is deeply disheartening to know that your accommodations did not meet nor exceed your expectations. I can only say that our team takes enormous pride in our facility, and it is imperative to hold the maintenance of our property... More

No frills, bunking in Lakeview at Lincoln Park. I parked in the property lot safely, walked to Zoo, Conservatory, "El" train, Oz Park and Lou Malnati's pizza. Charming street close enough to enjoy some street life, but quiet and safe at the hostel. No frills means you make up your top sheet and reuse your one towel, bath is down... More

We stayed in a private 2-bunk room for a 4-day girls weekend and the hostel was perfect for us! The room and bathroom was always clean and access to extra blankets, towels, etc. was easy. We stayed on the 4th floor where they were doing some painting in some of the other rooms so our floor was quiet and pretty... More

Chicago Getaway Hostel fit my budget for a two nights stay in Chicago. We opted for a private room with bathroom. Our room was clean and all the amenities of a hotel room twice the cost. The shared bathrooms were clean, large and numerous. The breakfast was very good and they have more than enough cooking utensils if you want... More

We stayed couple of nights and we had everything we looked for in hostel - the room and bathroom was clean enough, free towels, free wifi, free breakfast (with delicious wafle), perfectly equiped large kitchen and dining area, friendly and helpful staff. The location is great - quiet neighborhood, yet close to Lincoln park and downtown. Reasonable price.
