The hotel is nice and the renovation yielded great rooms. However, I should have known there was a problem when I called the hotel two days before to confirm that my name was included in a group of reservations my best friend made through his SPG Platinum Ambassador for my birthday weekend and the hotel couldn't find it. Upon arriving... More

I've never had a bad experience with the hotel. Before my arrival I emailed Katherine and she did an amazing job placing me in a room. The rooms themselves have been updated and are great for relaxation. Everything about the hotel was above average (although the elevators can take forever at times). I usually stay here in the summer because... More

We had 2 rooms reserved and check in was at 3:00. No rooms were available at 3:00, and finally 1/2 hour later, 1 room was available. I had informed the staff that all of us needed to shower & leave for an event by 4:00; however, we didn't get the 2nd room, or any of our luggage until 4:00 (which... More

We spent a week at this hotel - 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 9 and 12). The hotel is not really child friendly. I stay at SPG hotels in a frequent basis and therefore comparing this W hotel to the one in London or Barcelona. The ones in London and Barcelona are excellent, although lakeshore has the same feel,... More

This place used to be a Holiday Inn and they made it a W. Looks swanky but rooms are small. They do not cater to children at all. Great location close to Navy Pier. Pool water was freezing and the deck was closed. I usually love a W hotel but this was not up to standards. I called down to... More

I have stayed at several W Hotels and other Starwood properties during my business travels, as I know I will always get a great experience and know what to expect - a nice, clean, comfortable room. That being said, I was blown away by my experience at the W Lakeshore. The service was simply superb. When I walked in, I... More

We had to be in Chicago for a test at the Children's Hospital, and we tried to make the best of it. The room was ready and waiting for us upon check in. The view was spectacular! Everything was clean. We had exceptional service. Thank you Barbara and Alejandra for going out of your way and making the experience fun.... More

This was your standard W Hotel, but always a great experience. Rooms were larger than typical W rooms. Very modern furnishings, very nice linens on the bed. Bathroom was nice size and very bright. LOVE the Bliss toiletries, best marketing partnership ever. Rooftop space Altitude (indoor meeting/event room) was really nice with a beautiful view of the lake, Navy Pier... More

Found the staff very friendly and helpful and solved a few problems we had when we arrived quickly. The hotel is older (built around 1966) and has been extensively renovated a number of times. Like the location, being on the water front across from Navy Pier and a short walk (about 15 minutes) to the Magnificent Mile and many good... More

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
