Having experienced several Peninsula Hotels over the years, especially in the Far East, this one in Chicago simply does not compare. The Grand Deluxe King that we booked overlooked a tall building in the immediate vicinity. the room itself was small, scuffed & tired and clearly in need of a major overhaul. The Bed was very soft as so too the... More

This hotel is in a perfect location. An easy walk to shops and restaurants. The room was very comfortable. We never heard a sound from the hall. Book a spa treatment or at least spend time at the pool- the spa level was a dream. There was an issue at check in caused by travel delays. The management was so... More

I loved this hotel. Yes, it is pricey, but right now the hotel is running complimentary upgrades through the end of the year. For a standard rate, I was able to upgrade (free of charge) to an executive suite. Great views, large rooms, and a staff that takes care of your every need. They were nice enough to bring me... Great customer service. Well appointed rooms that are spacious when compared to other Chicago hotels. The split entry and lobby are inconvenient. The rooms need more electric outlets. The shower head was not adjustable and made the shower feel cramped. There was a terrible smell in our hallway, however it did not carry over into the room. The bed was... More

This was a luxury-level hotel. They did not miss much in terms of comfort and service! I was in a Junior Suite and they thought of everything! The turn down service was the most impressive I can remember: aside from the bed turn down, with chocolates, they put my book next to the night table, beside a bottle of water,... More

I am Chicago several times a year, and this is now my new "to-go" when in the windy city. From any amazing room, to the most accommodating staff - this hotel has thinks of the little things .. each night with turn down service, all my cords were tied up in ribbons to keep them organized, I had slippers by... Rarely can I state that a hotel has lived up to or exceeded all my expectations, but The Peninsula in Chicago is just such a place. As always, it begins with service and theirs is impeccable. From check-in requests, to breakfast service personnel, even to housekeeping that never has a cart in the hall, everyone is friendly, gracious, but always... More

We stayed overnight for an event. The room was relatively small, but very clean. Turn down service was nice as well. However, little things made it clear it wasn't 5 star. No coffee in the room - only in the lobby. That's fine, but it was lukewarm and almost gone. No greeting upon entry into the hotel lobby, no greeting... More

Staying at this hotel was a bit of a treat, and it met all expectations. The rooms were cleaned to an exceptional standard and house keeping made little gestures like tying up headphones with little bits of ribbon etc. (which I thought was really sweet!). The rooms are a really good size. The location is suberb - right in the... More

I'm a huge fan of the Peninsula brand and have stayed at several of the hotels around the world. You come to expect perfect service, good spas and a very comfortable stay - at a price. The Peninsula Chicago is no exception. This was my 3rd stay there, although the first in a few years. My Grand Deluxe room was... More

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
