It's true. This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. There was a working gas fireplace in our room. The bathroom was huge, with a walk-in shower and a huge bathtub. With a tiled bathroom you would think you were ancient Rome. Great location too. Loved every minute.

From the moment we checked in and throughout the entire four day weekend, this place was just great. We used the spa for services, exercised in the gym, swam in the pool and had breakfast in the restaurant. Every employee we encountered was wonderful. The spa was first class as was the food. A great experience.

We spent two nights at this hotel. We had booked two Waldorf Suites as we also had a our son and daughter in law with us. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay. The rooms were very nice with working fireplace and very comfortable beds. Our son and daughter in law loved their room, however, our room overlooked the rooftop of... More

The staff were very nice. The rooms are very dark. Very low ceilings and not enough air circulation. Views are poor although does have nice balcony. Furniture on balcony non existent unless you ask. Then mediocre. Bathrooms are nice. Beds decent, as are the linens. Tv volume is restricted. Not great. The building just does nothing for me. Lots of... More

I booked a luxury suite at the Waldorf for 4 nights in May. I normally stay at the Peninsula when I travel to Chicago, but I heard great things about this hotel and decided to give it a try. I also recently stayed at the Waldorf in Orlando and it was phenomenal, so that played a part in my decision.... More

The Waldorf is brand new and very well situated with a French style court yard, providing excellent rooms, with fireplaces that will be a delight in winter. Hotel staff very well trained and hospitable, which may distinguish Chicago from New York generically. Good breakfast. I wished I had an excuse to stay longer!

From the moment you check until the moment you leave this Hotel has one of the best staffs in the United States. The attention and service are unparalleled. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the fireplace and balcony allowed us to really enjoy the experience.

The Waldorf Astoria is a great hotel to stay at but it is not the best in this segment of the market. The Peninsula, Trump, and Ritz Carlton beat the overall experience and amenities. The hotel has changed hands twice since the initial developers built the hotel and it's obvious that they have scaled back their staff. They closed the... More

I have seen this hotel described as having more of a boutique feel than comparable properties. This is an accurate description, and I say that in the best way possible. The hotel feels quiet, personalized, and relaxed without compromising on amenities, luxury, service or anything else you would expect of a hotel at this level. Great looking rooms. Among the... Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
