Very friendly staff, especially Bizarre. She went above and beyond to make our stay great with her outstanding customer service and made it a very easy decision to make The Whitehall our choice for the next time we visit Chicago. Also would like to add that the beds are the most comfortable that I've ever slept in and it lives... More

The hotel was quaint, clean and the rooms were nice. Did not like the fact they charged for early check in, even when the room was ready. Michelle and Don provided awesome customer service. We would stop by the bar before and after hitting the town, to visit the best bartender ever, DON!

Hotel was great, rooms were clean, plenty big and comfortable but Don, the bartender, is the reason we will go back! All of the staff exemplify customer service. Excellent service and extremely welcoming!

We got an amazing rate using hotwire.com and the location was amazing. Just half a block off of Michigan Avenue and right near The John Hancock building, Water Tower Place, and The Shops at 900 Michigan Ave. Upon arrival (at approximately 9:10pm) the front desk attendant was very courteous. We were assigned our room and had to wait awhile for... More

Booked Whitehall because it is great location, had 4 stars, part of Disney Vacation Club, long-standing reputation, looked like great bar ambience. Mistake: depressingly old style rooms standard double queen with dingy light-- really dingy light!; automaton front desk clerks, empty Asian restaurant on premises, other restaurant is Italian--WTH?--and dark, dark limited street view bar. One desk chair, one corner... More

Recently stayed at the Whitehall Hotel in Chicago. I am a local who decided to stay there for the night. I was pleasantly surprised with the room quality and upgraded technology in the room. The TV was quite large and the alarm clock outfitted an iphone 6 (unlike most hotels that have iphone 4 outlets). The rooms can be quite... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
