Setting expectations is everything. I made a res on Expedia for a hotel with a pretty good brand and a great location, for $264 how bad could it be? Really bad. The listing on Expedia failed to mention that the hotel is under renovation and that there is no f&b...When I was so informed at check in I was told... More

We got a great deal on a room online ($90/night) and decided to stay. The Affinia is in a great location. A street away from Michigan Avenue, close to Navy Pier, etc. When we arrived, the front desk was very helpful..offering us suggestions for dinner and bars that might be fun. We also had the choice of 2 rooms. We... More

Let me preface this by saying that I have stayed at other Affinia properties and always had a pleasant experience. When I saw that the Fitzpatrick was being converted to an Affinia I was excited, as we often travel to Chicago, our former home. While I don't remember the specific dates I do know that it was sometime in January.... More

This property was formerly the Fitzpatrick. I've been staying at this hotel for years. It has always been my favorite Chicago hotel through its various name changes. The only reason I would stay at other hotels would have been because this hotel was booked. Now, in fairness, the hotel is undergoing construction/upgrading. But all that work is being done in... Booked this at $105 per night (for suite) with Travelzoo offer. Stayed two nights. Great location. They are in the middle of doing a lot of renovation and the plans look good when it will be finished. Were on the 24th floor so above the major work so no noise heard. Suite was nicely decorated. Bathroom is Tiny and the... More

stayed at the Affinia for 9 nights and we were upgraded to a suite. very spacious with great bathroom and amazingly comfortable bed. Only downside was drink facilities were a perculator, two cups and 2 old packets of coffee. Hotel is undergoing a major refit but we were not disturbed by this at all, and I was in early a... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2007

Booked our hotel on hotels.com which gave the Affinia 4 stars. The room we stayed in (20th floor) was MAYBE 2 stars. While it was fairly clean, it was VERY old. The decor, curtains, bedspreads, etc. were all outdated. The carpet appeared to be 20 years old. Also, the phone didn't work. Then I realized, while we were there, what... More

I will start out by saying that for the most part, the staff was excellent. I traveled with my father who is in a wheelchair and his caregiver. While we couldn't get rooms right next to eachother, (partially because the room across from his room was one of the penthouse suites,) they were able to put me in a room... More

My wife and I booked a studio suite at the Affinia through TravelZoo for only $105 a night. Given the great deal, we were impressed with the overall quality of this hotel. The lobby is nice as is the pub down the stairs. It is obvious, however, that the hotel is just a little aged. While our room was spacious... More

Absolutely wonderful hotel. Very clean rooms and the beds were very comfortable! Very luxurious bedding and towels. The entire staff was always very friendly and helpful. Great location. Less than a block to the Magnificent Mile, 3 blocks to the Hancock tower and Water Tower place. Can't wait to go back!

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
