This was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed in! I stayed in a 2-room suite (4 beds/room + kitchenette + bathroom + living room) and simply loved my stay there. The room and bathroom were quiet (even though we were eight people sharing it) and never busy that we needed to queue. On the second floor there... More

I usually travel alone, so there is limited interaction with people. I enjoyed this first experience at a Hostel because it was the best of both worlds, the surroundings of a 3 or 4 star hotel and the opportunity to meet and interact with people of all ages from the age of 20 to well over 60, from all over... The hostel has lots of great activities table tennis, pool table, free hotdog and beer nights, free walking tours, free Wifi and a great selection of tv channels. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend

I've never expected to get this satisfied with a reservation for only 133$ for FOUR nights. Do not expect "luxury". It is BETTER than that. This hostel is "lively" it is full of LIFE. Sharing with other and communicating with the lovely people at this hostel is very much enjoyable! Luxury is boring! This hostel is funny and nice to... More

I had a stop over in Chicago and stayed here at HI. When you consider the price, breakfast, with healthy choices.location how can you go wrong. Ok I stayed in a dorm room setting with bunk beds for 8 persons (perhaps). Bathroom down the hall. Real spartan set up. But the hostel has general sitting rooms with games, TV, if... More

We decided to stay at the HI Chicago (in a 4 bed private room) purely because of its convenient location in Downtown Chicago. Overall it was a really good stay. The room and rest of the hostel was very clean, the staff were friendly and it seemed like a safe place to stay. The hostel is a comfortable alternative to... More

This is probably one of my favourite hostels that I have stayed in during my trip around the United States! The hostel is centrally located with everything you could want near by, public transport, tourist attractions, restaurants, shops and pretty much anything else! The dorm itself was fantastic, lots of room for luggage without feeling like you have to tread... More

When I look for a hostel, the location is probably the most important feature. This hostel is located at walking distance to bus stops as well as subway stations. Several landmarks are close to the hostel too. We stayed in a private room with single bed lofted over full bed which was perfect for us since we are three. The... More

Hi-International is a great place to take scouts. I have taken my troop there two times - once as 5th graders and once as 8th graders. The hostel has given us varying size rooms as the troop has become smaller. Over the three years, they have increased security features and now seem to offer more help in planning your vacation.... You get your moneys worth here. The location is very convenient to the downtown area. The employees are very friendly and always welcome you with a smile. There is a nice open space in every room and the activities throughout the building. You also meet a great group of people during your stay. Free breakfast held during certain early hours.... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
