Staff was great. The service was great. The room was great. The location was perfect. Busy taxi area and staff was able to flag one down for me each time in under a minute. Wifi worked everywhere. My room was quiet and nicely decorated. It is a popular place and I was only able to acquire a room for one... More

Got a room here as one of lastminute.com's 'secret' hotels. The main thing that sold it to me was the wine hour(!), but I am so pleased we stayed here. The best bit about wine hour was meeting the other guests - there's a really nice vibe in this hotel, and it shows in the people you meet. Our room... More

Hotel Monaco in Chicago is like all Kimpton hotels--welcoming, pretty, dog-friendly and wonderful. I don't love many companies but I Love Kimpton. No breakfast but hotel breakfasts suck anyway. Free wine hour instead. Much better idea.

My wife and I spent three days at the hotel before I spent another three days at the hotel for a conference. We arrived very early on Friday morning and found everyone to be welcoming and extremely helpful. Our reservations were confirmed and bags secured while we toured the city waiting for a call on our room. Frances, Mike and... More

Our stay for my daughter's birthday was fantastic! The view from the room is so amazing, I wanted to stay up on the bench all day! Also the staff was great-especially reception and wine hour! We were able to take the bikes out for free too-great bikes! Will definitely stay there again! Love the Kimpton hotels!

Made reservation specifying a "quiet" room. Checked in and upgraded to a suite and got room 1204. Furnishings are worn and shabby. Bathroom is not comfortable, tiny shower and a step next to the tub that is inconvently placed as you open the door and dangerous. Still, I over looked all that and settled in. It was the noisiest room... More

We had a lovely room with a wonderful window seat looking over the Chicago River. Compliemntary wine each evening, and excellent concierge service. Looked right in the Loop and a short walk to the El. I highly recommend this little gem!

Let me start off by saying the location is excellent, couldn't of asked for a better tourist location to stay in. Stayed in room 403 and was not impressed with the room. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would give the staff 4 or 5 stars, but not the hotel. It is in an excellent location which worked... More

Staff friendly and accommodating. Breakfast (we were comped but normally not included) very good. River view room nice EXCEPT- the decor is WAY too busy for our taste. Our son and his future bride loved it- but it was hard for us to relax with so many intense patterns bombarding our senses. A little bit of wear showing here and... More

I am blown away by the personalized service given by the entire staff at Hotel Monaco. My husband wanted to add some personal touches to our room for my birthday and the staff took care of EVERYTHING. I have never felt more welcomed, more appreciated as a hotel guest. I felt so special during my entire stay. The rooms were... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
