So many Hotels in Chicago to choose from and so many even higher end, but there's something about this hotel that makes feel like an old friend. From the greeting you receive when you walk through the doors to the time you stop by for the wine reception, you feel you like you're at home. Rooms might not be huge... More

If you're a lover of architecture or Chicago history, you must stay at this downtown icon, which was one of the first skyscrapers ever built. The building was beautifully restored about 20 years ago and is really something else. We stayed on one of the upper, historic floors and our room looked out over the old Chicago theater -- great... It was quite a surprise when I walked into the Burnham Hotel recently. The lobby was changed and the restaurant has a quite different look. The room looked quite different as well. Gone where the funky decorations. Now there was a spare look. The staff indicated that there would be more decorations in the rooms so I do not want... More

Rooms are nice sized, quiet, and have a certain charm owing to being in an old building. The highlight is probably the bar and restaurant area - great for people watching, decent food, and enthusiastic, knowledgeable bartenders. It helped make it fun to stay there.

This property is rather old (Reliance Building) but it is in the process of being renovated. This could be inconvenient for you as it was for me. When I booked I received no notice about the major renovations taking place on the ground floor; those involved the whole restaurant area, which was obviously out of order. The hotel is pet... More

We have stayed at the Hotel Burnham many times and return because of friendly staff and service, history, location. We most recently stayed there just after the lobby and restaurant re-opened (dazzling and full of light with very new menus). We were warned it might not be open by our arrival so were pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately they did not tell... More

We were pleased that our room was ready at our noon arrival. But my upset stomach needed TLC. We requested plain white bread and applesauce but the kitchen sent up rye bread and had no applesause. We had to go out and find our own. They sent up tea the next morning, though. The kitchen should have the basics for... More

We got a great deal and a perfect room. We could see the lake,Macys decorations across the street, and the Chicago Theatre from our room, which was on the small side but that's to be expected at a historic hotel. We were walking distance to several attractions, including the Art Institute and the skating rink. I forgot to pack my... More

Felt what an old hotel in Chicago must have felt like. Cool but not an amenity filled place. Great staff makes it almost worth the price. Would definitely stay here if I'm in the theater district again

Room and fittings felt dated, decor and wallpaper old and peeling at seams. Room number not even sign posted (am I staying in a converted closet?). Room with a view of a brick wall. Bed comfortable but room so small that the headboard is next to the bathroom. Not even two feet away. Morning coffee from lobby full of granules.... More
