The Magnuson Hotel & Conference Center near Carlinville, Illinois is a good place for my yearly family reunion. Therein, family members from several states gather Friday through Sunday in mid-summer. We reserve a block of rooms at a lower rate, have ample gathering places ranging from the foyer to an open area near the bar, and poolside, along with the... More

I had been staying at this place since my parents took me there as a toddler. At that point, it was a Holiday Inn, "Holidome". There was another Holidome in Springfield right next to the Crown Plaza but it was torn down years ago. I have stayed at the this location a few times but not since it had become... More

Hotel is outdated. Older fixtures in the rooms and older TVs. However, the rooms were clean and quiet. The restaurant/bar is decent and was always welcoming to me when I showed up and ordered a burger 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. Hotel rooms are oriented around the indoor pool which is reminiscent of the hotels I stayed in on... More

This motel is in a very nice quiet area. It is right off I-55. The motel is older but pretty clean. The rooms and halls just need to be updated. It has a pond in the back with a paddle wheel boat that you can go sit on and have wine. They had a breakfast that was pretty good. The... More

pool was closed all day/night due to vomit that was not able to be cleaned up . Filled with little children - unsupervised - on Memorial Day weekend. Beds were nice but communal soap/lotion shampoo dispensers in the bathroom were a disgusting concept. Tile floors needed cleaning and general update necessary. Good price but NOT a 3 star property by... More

We spent New Year's Eve with another couple at the Magnuson. Since it was close to home and the weather can be dicey we thought we would book the package. Overall it was a nice get away but they could use some improvement. We spent a lot less than what a package in St Louis would of cost so we... More

Loved this hotel! I was working night shift sleeping during the day which is very very hard to do at a hotel. The front desk said they would put me in a quite room. I have heard this before from the front desk at other hotels. I dont know how they did it but there was no outside sound at... More

We stayed because we had a class reunion in their banquet room. The room was clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of pillows. We checked into our room and soon found out the air conditioning didn't work. They promptly moved us to a room across the hall, with no problem. The maintenance man went to... More

We stayed here while traveling Route 66. It actually has a new name now...sorry, I can't remember the name! We chose this hotel because it was mentioned in a Route 66 booklet. We had a rough day and thought it would be great to relax in the pool. Unfortunately, the pool (indoor) was closed, but should be up and running... More

I have stayed here about 25 years in Jan/Feb......starting when it was a Holiday Inn. This time I was returning from a 5 week trip to South Padre. Best Western, Carlinville, was the most expensive motel...........no more hot tub, internet connection poor, TV channels not the best (no commedy channel, no David Letterman), breakfast service was a disaster, front desk...
