I seldom give Excellent but this is it. My wife and I rented the cottage for a week for $600. This is a separate structure with 3 bedrooms which with the queen and king size beds are a bit small but very comfortable. We had a full bathroom (with spacious shower), living room and fully equipped, separate kitchen. The property... More

A really pleasant overnight enjoyed on route from New Orleans. The proprietor could not have been more hospitable and engaging. Excellent breakfast and lovely conversations. Garden grown foods. Comfortable and spacious room. Great environs. Don't miss - highly recommended.

This little gem is an oasis behind the SIU Rec Center, a very convenient location for trips to the SIU campus. My husband and I stayed two nights in July while visiting our son. The building is cozy, comfortable and its historic elements beautifully preserved. Paul and Teresa cooked wonderful breakfasts for us and we enjoyed far-ranging conversations with them.... More

Arriving on a late train, Paul greeted me, by name, at the front door and showed me my cozy bedroom adjacent to the front room. Before turning in, I read in the front room taking in the wood grains and solitude of this solid framed home. I slept very deep on a comfortable country bed in a darkened room with... More

What a great place to stay. We felt so at home here. Paul and Teresa were great, and the food was to die for. You will not leave hungry! Our room was comfortable, spacious, well appointed and just perfect. If youask Paul for recommendations on places to go, see, eat, etc., definitely follow his recommendations. We had a great time... The owners are the best and the place is beautiful. Very clean and comfortable. They make such a fresh and tasty breakfast. You'll NOT be disappointed. When you think of B & B this should be what you imagine. We will go back to Southern Illinois for another visit and the Train Inn will be the place to stay. The... More

Our stay at the Train Inn was great. The place was absolutely immaculate, and full of charm. Paul and Teresa were warm and inviting, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The hot tub was heated and ready for us, with robes and flashlight when we got back from our evening out. Breakfast was delicious and... More

The Train Inn was our first experience with a B&B and it was fantastic. We stayed two nights in the Carbondale Room which had lots of space and felt very private. The bed was comfortable and the room had lots of charm. Paul and Teresa were so nice and really made us feel welcomed. The morning breakfast experience felt like... More

We started coming here as an alternative to the chain hotels four years ago and now return regularly because we consider Paul and Theresa friends. Great place to stay, wonderful breakfasts, and the best hosts ever.
