We visited this pub recently for a trip down memory lane. Our last visit was about 14 years ago and we had remembered the pub being wonderfully eccentric. It's still a really interesting place, with different nooks to sit in, drink, read and dine. The landlord was really welcoming and helpful. The food was enjoyable and came in generous portions.... Good find this, really nice food. Great hospitality from the landlord, ask about his boxing days! Recent family lunch with the out-laws. Relaxed, unpretentious, pub type of place, but with classy food. Will certainly go again. Wish it had been a bit busier though, we were there for Saturday lunch. Go for the relaxed landlord and staff, good service, great... More

I husband booked this on recommendation from customers he took last year. We arrived at the pub and walked into the bar nobody was there to greet us so we walked around the other side where the barman was rolling up his cigarette! No a great start as we are non-smokers! He was however quite friendly he showed us to... More

We popped in here one evening for a bite to eat and a drink while house hunting in the area. The land lord was so welcoming the food was proper pub grub and it was well cooked and tasted great. We will defiantly go back on a regular occasion even if we don't move within staggering distance !! But if anythings... More

We visited The Lamb as we were in the area visiting Marchants garden centre and found the new landlord and his young wife very hospitable. We stayed for a bite to eat on our first visit as we were in the area and shared a delicious plate of whitebait. This prompted us to return last Friday with some friends from... More

One word "Excellent" this above hotel/pub has been completely transformed by the current Manager James. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and if we ever pass through "Ripe" we will definately be calling in for a meal with our family and perhaps a stay in the future. Thank you James and his staff for making our stay very enjoyable!

The premier in was fully booked for Gyndebourne, and my husband and I needed a place to stay. So OK they need heaver curtains in the bedroom, the place has beautiful hotel chic within a small traditional Inn. The lamb smells like a traditional pub, (without the smoke), evening the bedding smelt gorgeous. The antipasti was amazing with a pipette... More

We booked two rooms for three nights and only stayed because no alternatives at peak holiday period. Village itself is lovely and inn has recently changed hands. Rooms are attractively decorated but there were no curtains at windows, despite this being midsummer and rooms facing east and over street. Shower curtain on shared bathroom did not reach to side of... More
