This lodge is about one hour drive north of Cairns or about 10 minutes south of Port Douglas. The road from Cairns to the lodge is a beautiful scenic drive but very windy so do be careful when driving. Thala is a good place to stay when visiting the Rainforest. Unusual. The Thala staff is very friendly and efficient. The... More

This is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay with high standards maintained in every area. The lodge we had was clean, spacious and had a lovely balcony opening on to the garden. The main pool is just lovely as is the dipping pool on the way back from the stunning beach. Everything is kept pristine and you feel like you... More

We have just returned from 18 days in Oz during which we spent 7 nights at Thala. Richard I will forever recommend this place to anyone who is heading to Cairns/Port Douglas. WHAT a find. The views are indescribably beautiful, with countless look out spots throughout the grounds. We had odge 1 which overlooked the ocean and felt very much... More

We spent a week at Thala Beach in a Coral Sea View bungalow. The room was nice, good sized and clean, and the terrace had a stunning view. Staff was friendly and attentive, especially in the restaurant. The grounds, beaches and the pool were great. We also enjoyed the breakfast a lot. One point deducted for a few cockroaches (were... Thank you for your lovely feedback with regards to our rooms, staff, grounds, beaches, pools and food! With over 145 acres of native forest, wild flora and fauna is one of the features of Thala. Some people think of cockroaches and ants as disease-carrying, urban pests. The reality is that of the 400 Australian native cockroach and 1300 ant species,... More

Wonderful 5 days spent here. Couldn't wish for a better setting, short walk to fabulous beach with hammocks in the pine trees. Was stinger season so couldn't swim but pools were clean and glorious! Warm welcome carried on through our stay, staff really helpful but non intrusive. Great breakfast included and lovely food in restaurant. Pick up for trips so... More

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms could have a bit of an upgrade but they are nice, clean and comfortable, the food at the restaurant was fantastic! We had lunch there one day, it's lovely, open and has great views to the ocean. It's not far to drive for other amazing restaurants in Port Douglas,... More

Beautiful accommodation by the looks of things .. Beautiful surrounds .. The view was fabulous .. Food in the restaurant really let us down .. This place recommended to us by a hotel in Cairns .. BLAND is all we can say .. No flavour and zero presentation .. No wonder there was nobody in the restaurant .. Sorry !

We are pleased you found our accommodation, surrounds and views to be fabulous. We were very surprised to read your food feedback and wish you had let staff on the day know of your specific concerns so we could have addressed them in person. If you’d like to send an email with more detail (eg dish/issues) it would be greatly... More

Absolutely loved this place ! Loved the wooden hut style apartments . We were only feet away from the cove which with its coconut palms made us feel like Robinson Crusoe. The path to reception / the restaurant is unbelievably steep but they will come and get you in a golf buggy if you are struggling . The pools are... More

We often bring our visitors to the region to thala to enjoy a refreshing cold coconut, the gorgeous views, dine at the restaurant and soak up the ambience of this beautiful resort. On this visit there were 6 of us and each of our meals were delectable! We were particularly pleased with the quality of the food we had for... More

My husband and I spent out honeymoon in Australia and Fiji and this spot was a perfect addition to our trip. Between drinking bubbly in a quiet natural pool to lounging in a hammock alone on the private beach, we enjoyed all the beauties of this reserve. We had the opportunity to go on a coconut tour on the premises... More
