We stayed at the Thala Beach in March when the place was almost empty. We had been attracted by the website, which bigged up the resort’s nature reserve credentials and the complimentary wildlife tours. We were staying one night only but had at least expected an early morning bird walk or even a night outing. As it turned out, the... More

All the descriptions we read did not prepare us for what we received. The lodges are beautiful and one of the highlights was the sea food basket meal we had on the balcony of our lodge. The beautiful pool in tranquil surroundings was a great way to relax at the end of the day. Having meals in open air restaurants... More

Do yourself a favour and visit Thala. 5 star service, surroundings are stunning, will be back for sure. Try for off season when possible to avoid children - I am not a fan of kids at resorts as they ruin the peace and quiet you came to enjoy. There were a few kids arriving the day we left, a quiet... We stayed four nights and loved it. I believe we stayed in the Coral Sea Bungalow. We were above the rain forest and had an amazing view of the sea. The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful. The bungalow was roomy, nice and very clean. The bathroom was modern and spacious - lots of room to spread out. If you love... More

Everything was outstanding with our stay at Thala... We were upgraded to a eucalyptus lodge, I don't know the difference between the cabin, ours was a short 3-4 min walk along the path through the trees to reception with brilliant look out spots the whole way. It's a slight walk up hill but not much. The cabin was clean, modern... More

We stayed four days at Thala and totally enjoyed the room, the space, and the rain forest. During the first two days of our stay we also got to enjoy cyclone Nathan. Although this ruined our diving on the reef we found the hotel and grounds a unique experience and worth the investigation. It was far from cold outside so... More

We spent two nights at Thala Beach on our way from Cairns & before going on to Melbourne. The grounds are extensive and some walking will be required both to explore the property & grounds and if your accommodation is situated away from the main building that houses reception, bar, restaurant, lounge & shop. Accommodation is in wooden bungalows scattered... More

Was recommended by a lady from Palm cove to stop here and enjoy the view. Despite the weather conditions thanks to cyclone Nathan, the coffee was enjoyable and the view pretty amazing. The interior staircase to the treehouse like dining room itself is incredible

This is not a luxury hotel in the rain forest. It is a rain forest reserve that will provide a luxury experience without being out of place in the rain forest/beach environment. The desk and house keeping service is very responsive to every request however they did mix up one particular request. In this case I told the desk that... More

Set on a steep hill overlooking the beautiful Thala Beach and the surrounding countryside. The bungalows are spread though-out the site some quite a distance from the main buildings , However you can if you wish book a buggy to take you up the hill. We stayed in a Eucalypt Bungalow with the most fantastic views, a beautiful wooden bungalow... More
