Let's just start off by saying Galena has some tough nordic trails! That being said, there is great snowshoe trails, and anyone can do that. Take the beautiful drive under the Boulder Mountains and go for a GREAT lunch. Weekends during the winter can be crowded, but don't be afraid to share a table that is being under utilized. We... Galena Lodge is not a lodge, it is a warming hut, meeting place, and rest stop, with a restaurant and small outdoor store--and it's terrific. The ambiance is perfect: in the dead of winter there is a fire in the fireplace, lots of tables and a few comfy chairs, and great soups to warm you through. Best of all is... More

We snowshoed some of the trails around Galena Lodge. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food looked amazing, but honestly we didn't eat lunch there. They had multiple soups, some vegan and veg, and other yummy-looking sandwiches and baked goods. Also had beer and wine. Was a little pricey, but sure looked and smelled good. $5 per person... More

Summer or winter, Galena puts even the casual tourist in the heart of the mountains. It is only open during season, so please check. In the summer, there is great hiking, horseback riding, and dining on the lawn. Certain nights, there are historic ore wagon trips and BBQs. There are also special moonlight dinners. Check on availability of yurt stays.... More

Located 20+ miles north of Ketchum, ID, Galena Lodge is worth the drive summer or winter (closed spring & fall, check website for hours). The small building is the last remaining structure of once was a booming mining town. Saved from distruction by the family of the late U.S. Senator John Heinz the "lodge" (there are no overnight accommodations in... More

We took very good friends to the summit north of Sun Valley to Galena Lodge for a day of cross-country skiing and lunch. We had an amazing day with excellent snow conditions, fantastic views, great ski trails and the best lunch after a long morning's ski. The restaurant is open log with a cozy atmosphere, great food, drink and quality... More

During the holidays and other times like full-moons, Galena hosts a pre-fixe dinner for guests that make reservations in advance. 6 of us enjoyed a holiday dinner here in late December. It was pretty much the perfect way to end our trip. It was snowing pretty hard outside, so although the roads were dicey getting up to the lodge, it... More
