We stayed at the Towne Center motel in Mountain Home, Idaho, in late September, 2002. My wife (then fiance') and I were moving her from Chattanooga, TN to Washington State. While we had a moving truck do most of the work, we had two cats and a 75 pound hound dog in our 2002 VW Beetle (by the way, do NOT buy one, they are heinously expensive to maintain and are always in the garage). The desk clerk at the motel asked to see our dog, fell in love with him, and called her manager to waive the dog fee, which was done. The room at our motel was huge, quiet, cheap, clean and furnished with a very, very cool and authentic 70s aesthetic. If you are traveling between Seattle or Portland and Utah, Colorado or points east, you MUST stay at this gem of a motel a couple miles off of I-84, in Mountain Home, Idaho.
