Don't come to Lava with high expectations, it's a nice little day retreat for the hot springs but I wouldn't stay there again. This hotel was fine, nothing great but it worked for the night, my only real complaint about my stay was you can hear absolutely everything next door which can be frustrating if you're next to a room... My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend at the Home Hotel in July 2011. We stayed two nights. The staff at the Hotel were AWESOME! They were very understanding when we called to push back our check in time, and very helpful in giving us directions when we got lost. The room was very nice, the air conditioner kept... More

The hot springs are such a great little weekend trip! The Home Hotel is our favorite by far. The town is very small, and it's right in the middle of everything! Steps from the restaurants, hot pools, and the only bar in town. We got the Picasso suite #446. The bed was comfortable, the tub was HUGE, and the staff... More

The rental house at Home Hotel is only steps away from the spring, and is the best way to spend a few days in Lava. For less money than we paid previously for a small and rather worn down double-queen room elsewhere in Lava last year we stayed in a large, comfortable two-bedroom guest house! The queen beds seemed new... More

Last weekend my wife and I enjoyed a two-night midwinter stay at this hotel. It went exactly as we had hoped -- excellent accommodations including an in-room hot tub, comfortable king bed, flat screen TV, two bedside reading lamps, minifridge, micro, wifi, etc. Scott, the British-born owner, has done a great job renovating this 91 year old hotel, giving it... Most of the hotels and motels in lava are on the "dumpy" and "out-of-date" side. Especially the ones in town close enough to walk to the main hot springs. Home Hotel is an old hotel that has been renovated and has some small old-school rooms in nearby buildings. Definitely go for the renovated rooms named after a specific artist in... More

We enjoyed a one-night stay at the Home Hotel. We got a free upgrade without asking, and found the room very pleasant, and the staff very easy to work with. The shower struggled a little to function properly, but otherwise, we had no complaints. The owner manager (during the day) was very friendly, and the evening help was also very... More

This is a great little hotel. The beds are comfortable, the staff are friendly and the bathtubs are absolutely massive. You could easily fit four people in one, if you wanted to. It is also a great price, and it cost less to stay here for two nights than most four star places in the city we came from. One... More

The Home Hotel was a pretty good hotel. The only thing is that I booked a small room but had no idea just how SMALL the room was. Barley enough room to walk around in and the bathroom was also super small. Lighting is really bad and really dim, Other than that it was a good experience. The people that... More

The reason you find yourself in Lava is to experience the springs, and the Home Hotel has gone out of its way to make that a more private experience by remodeling each room - decreasing the room's overall size - to add a large two-person tub (exceptional tile work in the room where we stayed). The intent is to give... More
