We were going to Yellowstone from Idaho Falls and did not want to pay the high prices in West Yellowstone. We happened to pass through Island Park. I started looking through trip advisor and found Sawtelle. We called and he said only the economy room was left. It was just my husband and I, so we decided to go and... More

We usually stay in State and National campgrounds in a small RV, but were here for three nights with some friends who stayed in the hotel. I was really disappointed by the RV park. I didn't have high expectations but it was kind of a mess. This is ATV country, so everyone in park had an ATV that they were... More

Average in everything except price: fairly high for the location. no breakfast, room comparably small and with certain "moisture" smell. Clean and fits the purpose: sleep over and have fun in the nature. Staff is nice and offers vouchers for nearby Mexican restaurant: one can get either starter either dessert for free. There is a microwave in the room, and... More

This is a fine place for an overnighter but we stayed three nights while visiting Yellowstone Nat Park. It is about a 30 minute drive to the park from the hotel. Hotel rooms are small, clean but not in good repair. Our toilet leaked , light bulbs were burned out and the bed squeaked! Electrical consisted of a lot extension... More

We had a family vacation with 33 people in 6 family units. We rented 4 condo units. 3 had adjoining doors for large gatherings. The kids liked the swings in the little park and the swimming pool (Indoor). The adults loved the private hot tub for each unit. They were clean and well maintained. Each unit has it's own outdoor... Like other reviewers, the best word to describe is "Simple". It's clean and affordable. You are less than 30 min. from Yellowstone's west entrance. Truly this place is nothing more than a place to get some sleep after a long day of sightseeing. I did take the suggestion of another traveler and brought my own soap and shampoo, and was... More

This is a good value, compared to the prices in West Yellowstone. Located about 20 miles from the West entrance to Yellowstone (the best entrance, in my opinion) on a very lightly travelled road. Not a special place--just clean rooms, good service, and as other reviewers have noted--not a resort per se, but a motel. Location for activities is great,... More

West Yellowstone was fully booked and very very expensive. This is a cheaper option if you want to stay nearby. Room was okay. Nothing special but all,you need for a night over. We didn't experience the neighborhood and the park. We only stayed there for a night and moved to Yellowstone NP the days after. We loved the dinner at... More

Sawtelle offers guests a deep discount compared to hotels in West Yellowstone, but this is a "you get what you pay for." While it tries to play up its "resort" name, unfortunately it's more like a decent motel. The good part is it at least accomplishes what a decent motel should be...clean rooms at affordable prices. We arrived late after... More

I booked the Sawtelle after searching prices/locations, etc., close to Yellowstone. Even though it was after Labor Day, there were lots of 'no vacancies' so I extended my search and found the Sawtelle. The prices are lower than West Yellowstone, and even though it is a little out of the way, we were really glad we chose this hotel. The... More
