BEWARE!!! The shuttle to Venice has been severely restricted to ONLY twelve people at a time. Guests are having to que in the hot sun only to be told they are not able to board the boat. We had to take a private taxi back to the hotel for a E70. fee which the hotel is unwilling to reimburse. The... More

We booked with the memory of having visited friends whom stayed, 20 years ago, year after year in this hotel which exhaled the magnificence and the glory of hotels of exception. But that was before ... Upon our arrival for a 3 night stay, it took almost 2 hours to receive a key for a room after struggling with particularly... More

This was something of a last minute mini-break. Having visited the Des Baines hotel (now closed) 10 years ago, when it was a sister (Starwood group) hotel to the Excelsior, I had always promised that we would visit the Excelsior one day. The hotel is now independent and has undergone a refurbishment in the last couple of years. It is... More

After first battling to get the room we had paid for, everything else with this place was great. The breakfasts, bars and restaurant were excellent. Our room was very comfortable with views and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The free water taxi into Venice was the extra bonus we weren't expecting.

There loads of positives and very few " could do betters". We stayed ten days with two teenagers. We did Rome and Tuscany last year. We were looking for a similar combination of culture and chilling out. In the heatwave, the latter was not an option. The location is superb away from the hustle and crowds of Venice. The rooms... Our second stay at the Excelsior - we chose it again because of the pool and the boat service into Venice. The good points are the pool and the staff who look after the loungers and pool bar; the breakfast and the boat service (but only when you can get on the boat). The less good points are that it... This is a luxury hotel on Lido Island away from the crowds of St Mark's Square. They have their own transfer service from the hotel to St Mark's Square that leaves every 20 minutes and experiencing this little boat trip makes your visit to Venice even more enjoyable. The rooms are huge! We had 2 interconnecting rooms with 2 bath... More

My wife and I planned a last minute trip to Venice and thought it would be a good idea to stay on Lido to get access to a beach, a pool, and a quiet island away from the Venice tourist crowds. The hotel is large, old, and pretty out dated. However, the staff was fantastic. They helped us make arrangements... More

The Excelsior is located on Lido island, a 25 minute boat ride to Venice. The hotel's boats often reached capacity to/from Venice causing us to wait more than an hour, sometimes late at night. Saturday night we ended up taking the public boat service back to the hotel at midnight taking an hour and a half counting waiting in line,... More

Stayed 2 nights in June 2015 in a wonderful room overlooking the beach and Adriatic Sea. Delightful. The beach is raked every morning which is a plus in Italy. The breakfast is wonderful. Most restaurants are about a kilometer from the hotel, however across the street Ristorante Tavernetta served delightful local fare. The hotel provides a complimentary water Taxi to... More
