This B&B is absolutely charming. The furnishings and floors are lovely. Walls are filled with interesting, eclectic art and period photographs. There are books available to browse or read. Our room was large with high ceilings, lilac motif, a very comfortable bed and antique toys and dolls on a shelf. Linens were exceptional and the bathrobes were a surprise and... More

Had a wonderful stay here! The building itself is absolutely charming right down to the very squeaky hardwood floors. The rooms were roomy and beds were comfy. The decorations throughout the whole building were amazing. Pool, hot tub, walking distance to down town and Mother Hen Ruth was the most gracious hostess, making sure everyone was comfortable and taken care... More

This is a very special B&B. The charm of the schoolhouse has been maintained. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were large. The breakfast was exceptional with lovely stories told by the inn keeper about having gone to elementary school in the very building.

The charm of the old school is completely captured even with the original blackboards on the bed room walls. Great collection of glass ware is displayed in the dinning room. But the greatest treat was being greeted and served by a former student Ruth. The splendid, bountiful, scrumptious and most amazing breakfast is prepared and served by Ruth in her... More

Worth planning a stop-over. In addition to the interesting character of the building and the absolutely fantastic breakfast, Ruth provides a warm hospitality - chatting on the patio with guests as we watch the dozens of hummingbirds, discussing the schools history, advising on dinner options. It was my favorite night in a 10 day trip.

On our way to Banff my 2 sisters and I enjoyed this fabulous B&B! Ruth was very accommodating of our need to sleep 3 in a room. The relaxing ambiance was nice, the extra touches to have tea, cookies or a liqueur for evening was very nice. The breakfast was a class act with beautiful settings, excellent foods. Quiche, huckleberry... More

We stayed at the Northside School on our journey from Banff to Spokane. Everything was very clean. Ruth, the owner, very friendly and a wonderful cook! The breakfast was delicious with many choices. She also has her homemade jellies, syrups, etc. for sale at a very low cost. Never heard a single train, which many people complained about in their... More

This is a beautifully converted elementary school, lovingly done by Ruth, who attended school here, and her husband. Each room has its own unique decor. The entire B&B is comfortable and welcoming, as are the hosts. The pool is heated and the jacuzzi was perfectly located to watch the hummingbirds on the feeders. Breakfast was sumptuous and first-rate. Our only... More

The owners, Ruth and Gene Perry, converted a historic school into a charming bed and breakfast with nine rooms. The schoolhouse sits on a hillside and guests can walk a few steps for a lovely view of the Kootenai River. The "monkey" bars and other playground equipment still visible on the property made me feel like a kid again. An... More
