the room...constantly barking.
Am glad to see they will not be returning.
The rooms are on par with any respected national 2 star chain. Clean, updated, everything works. Basic in decor, nothing to complain about. Carpet seems not very old throughout - no cig burns or stains anywhere. Internet is fine.
The hotel building itself is hard to describe - it's kind of wedged between larger buildings, and the lobby building is separated and in front. Parking is OK but a little tight. As of this writing there is no charge for parking. This is not an aesthetically pleasing property from the outside. Feels kind of dark and cramped,. No views.
However, this is in a great location - walkable to all of downtown Boise. This property is routinely among the cheapest options available downtown. You might get by slightly cheaper at the airport perhaps.
Stay here if you want clean no-frills accommodations at a value price, and want the walkability of downtown Boise.
Sadly, it is no more. Unsure whether it will be another hotel, as they are advertising, or apartments as several locals seem to hint at. The closest hotel is the hotel 43 across the street (from where I am writing this).
The Safari Inn is a non-major branded hotel. Kind of a independent, family owned kind of place. From the time you step into the lobby and and you are greeted by friendly, helpful staff you get the sense this is a close-knit, family run business. While the property shows some signs of age, it is very clean and people are constantly cleaning everywhere you look. The location is tops for access to Boise’s 8th Street restaurants and pubs as well as access to the Greenbelt and other downtown attractions. Our room was well equipped and very comfortable. No complaints. There are lots of little amenities such as a free newspaper, cookies in the afternoon, and an adequate light breakfast. With temperatures in the 90’s we found the very well-maintained pool very enjoyable to cool off after a long bike ride. Another plus was the comp’d taxi ride to and from the airport... great perk.
Bottom line: Great value.... Clean, friendly and helpful staff, perfect location, very adequately equipped. Don’t pay more unless you are on someone’s expense account!
"Get a room on the upper floor facing the city. We had a great view of Jump from our room."Read full review
