This is now a brand new property so do not read the OLD reviews. It is just gorgeous and for the price you cannot beat it. It is so close to downtown St Simons and right across the street from the beach (200 yards). I would recommend anyone to stay here. We are going back and taking the entire family!!!!!

Decided to mix business with @ short trip to the beach. This Inn is a small 3 story building with top end 1 bedroom suites. Brand new & highly luxurious. Directly across from beach & 1/2 mile to town. @ the rate I received a much better value than local hotels.

THIS IS A BRAND NEW FACILITY. They tore down the old and put up the new. Please someone needs to remove all old reviews previous to April of 2008. According to the person who checked us in, that is when the completely new facility Sea Gate Inn was completed. The pictures on their web site do not do this facility... More

When we first got to The New Sea Gate Inn we had some problems checking in since it was after hours. They finally took care of that and we got to our condo which was just gorgeous. Everything is brand new and perfectly clean. It is right across the street from the ocean with beautiful views. The maid service was... More

I'd like to begin by saying that any review prior to 2008 should be entirely disregarded. The Sea Gate Inn, or the "New" Sea Gate Inn has been completely renovated. I use TripAdvisor a lot, but don't generally leave reviews. I only felt it fair to review this hotel because I feel it's been greatly underrated based on outdated experiences.... More

Management response:

Thank you for the wonderful review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We would like to reiterate that reviews posted prior to this apply to a building that was completely torn down--only the name and address remain the same. In its place is the New Sea Gate Inn, a 24-room suite hotel with luxurious amenities. More

I have already given my review of the Seagate, having stayed there more than twice. My husband and I enjoy our cozy room in The Ocean House and never had reason to complain. Now, for all you ney sayers, please know that the main building (around the pool) is being demolished and a brand new facility will open there in... More

I'm still stunned that this place received even okay reviews, let alone that anyone would ever return. Maybe there are a few decent rooms in there somewhere... but not the two we saw. We chose the Ocean House for a front-row seat on the Atlantic - it was a great view, but that's the only thing Sea Gate has going... More

Please note that The Sea Gate Inn was completely torn down and rebuilt--only the name and location remain the same. The new Sea Gate Inn opened in 2008 and features spacious hotel suites with kitchen, living/dining area, bedroom, private balcony and swimming pool. Suite interiors have fine finishes including tile floors, granite countertops, beautiful furnishings, plantation shutters and soaking tubs... More

If you want fancy, stay at the King & Prince. The SeaGate is a decent place to stay without spending a lot of money. I stayed at the Ocean Room and the View was just fantastic. The dolphins swim right by your balcony. The rooms could use some updating, however, the staff was more than accomodating when asked for extra... More

We thought we had lucked out in finding a room at the Sea Gate because every other hotel on the island was booked for the weekend. It's very possible that only reason the Sea Gate had any rooms available was because everyone else knew that this is the nastiest hotel within 100 miles. Their "continental breakfast" was still sitting out... More
