My understanding is that Hawthorn Suites Rome was once a factory that produced steam engines for riverboats. As the hotel was not purpose built there will be a few quirks here and there. My room had a 90 degree curved wall and a window that opened into the hallway. My travelling companions room had an 18 ft ceiling and a... more

I was there on a business trip on June 11, 2007. First I had to wait 20 minutes until the receptionist showed up. Then she programmed the key incorrectly, and I had to go back to get it reprogrammed. But the worst was that I got a room without an outside window!!! I slept already in hundreds of hotels, but... more

The beds are the best, really like the hotel, it is a little pricey but...... The service that I was given was great. The only negative remark would be about the restaurant next door. I've been there... more

The Hawthorne is Rome is an absolute treat. It's located right in the heart of the very attractive downtown area, and on the bank of one of the three rivers. It is an old converted warehouse facility and has the original flooring and exposed brick in the rooms. They built a few shops in the lobby area that really add... more

We stayed at this hotel in May 2005. The gentleman that took the reservation referred to this hotel as the "Flagship Hotel". He made it sound phenomenal. The Rome chamber of commerce advertises this as a "new hotel". It appears that the "building" is a renovated old factory or warehouse. The elevator was outside of the actual structure, probably added... more
