We took our boys to Fort McAllister on Saturday April 13th. We toured the fort and the museum. It was a nice interpretive site for a major battle in the civil war. The outside fort is one of the last earthwork forts left on the east coast. The inside Museum has a great deal of information and dioramas to explain... More

I stayed in a cottage here while in Richmond Hill on business and it was a great quite spot to unwind after a long day! I underused the size of the cottage, I was alone and 6 people could comfortably stay in the two bedroom/4 bed cottage. Full kitchen, dining area, screened in porch overlooking the river...paradise! And conveniently located... More

This campground is beautiful, clean and has a fishing pier, nature trail, boat dock and sites spaced far apart. What's the problem? There is no sound buffer. We could hear people several loops away, not to mention every word from the people several sites over. It was a packed weekend, and people were not obnoxiously loud either. We felt as... More

We stayed here on Veterans day weekend. The park was full but still quiet. The road into the campground from the Park office is in need of repaving but it's OK if you drive slow. The roads in the campground are paved but narrow and curvy. Big rigs need to use caution when maneuvering around. Lots of trees and some... More

This campground is great for tent camping. We found it to be clean, well maintained, each tent site is huge with a picnic table, campfire ring with grill (all in one), water and electric and double lantern hook. The tent pads are elevated and will easily hold some of the larger tents made. I would estimate a 12' x 16'... More

Overall our camping was very nice. I felt it was a more family oriented state park with several play grounds. Awesome picnic areas and trails, red bird creek trail was spectacular. My only complaint involves the noisy campers hooting and hollering through the night. Majority of the people were friendly...I recommend this park. This park is a boaters paradise.

About a year ago our poor girl scout troop decided we wanted to take our first trip to Savannah.... big mistake. The first night we got there it was late and dark. We had been in a 14 passenger van (the whole van completely FULL!!) and had resorted to either sleeping or singing (terribly). When we arrived at what we... More

Great camping spot not far off 95 that has good amenities while still feeling woodsy. Some RVs around but we got a spot that was far from them. Beautiful location!!! Very relaxing.

We went over for just a day trip but it was well worth the trip time fron Savannah. The fort plays a special part in Civil War history and is very unique. The scenery is fantastic. There is a camping area, which we did not have a chance to enjoy, and there are picnic areas with a playground. A very... More

This is a Perfect Campground if there ever was one. It is quiet, and clean, and far enough from civilization while only being a few miles from a gas station, a grocery store and a fast food place if you need it. Firewood is plentiful to keep you warm on the cool nights, or just have a fun time around... More
