Had very good email communication made my arrival and start to the AT Trail very easy. Place is really nice staff was great. They have a good selection of last minute hiker needs. Also Walmart near by and they did late shuttles over for last minute needs.

Great hikers water hole. Propriators are very knowledgable, seriously! Wonderful breakfast & friendly fellow travelers. Centrally located for access to all trailheads. Shuttle service was a life saver.

I stayed here whilst travelling around the States. The owners were nice enough to pick me up from the Greyhound station (a 30 minute drive). They were welcoming and advised me on great walks around the Appalachian Trail for my stay. The rooms were comfy and warm and our downstairs room had its own kitchen and lounge area to watch... Glad we found this hidden gem! Stayed 2 nights while enjoying some of the area hiking trails. The hosts were fabulous and breakfast each morning was filling. Can't imagine staying anywhere else now. See you again in the spring!

I would recommend staying at the Hiker Hostel! I stayed there for about 10 days with a large group and then a few days extra afterwards. The shared room I stayed in was very comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom. The common areas were great as well. There were books and movies available, and a kitchen space with refrigerator... In an age of homogenization of hotels, the Hiker Hostel stands out as a place that offers clean and comfortable lodging for an amazingly low price with friendly knowledgeable staff that go out of their way to answer questions and make your stay exceed your expectations. If your focus is price, the bunk rooms are comfortable and very clean. If... More

I toured the place completely and viewed all the rooms and was overwhelmed with its charm. I was specially attracted to the container rooms which on the surface sounds strange but what they have transformed them into is unbelievable. I found myself late in Dahlonega and not wanting to drive late through the mountains going home I grabbed a bunk.... More

My husband, our dog, and I stayed at the Hiker Hostel just north of Dahlonega, GA during the beautiful autumn foliage season. We were very impressed with the location, price, amenities, and fellowship of this wonderful place. The owners have done a wonderful job of creating a restful environment for hikers and hiker wannabees to share their hiking/cycling/nature experiences in... More

I stayed on the main floor in one of the shared bunk rooms with an adjoining bathroom. The bedroom was clean and comfortable with room for luggage. Towels/washcloths, soap and shampoo/conditioner were provided in the bathroom. The staff was friendly, informed about the area's trails, and prepared a good breakfast.

After 4 stays at the Hiker Hostel, I am officially in love with this place. Beautiful grounds, serene setting and the hostel managers Shannon and Derek are amazing people who are also through hikers so they kinda know what they're talking about. Free breakfast and endless coffee is a bonus and the private containers for the cost are beyond worth... More
