I visited the Hiker Hostel twice in April 2015. I feel as though I was the only person there who wasn't a hiker, but everyone I came into contact with was very friendly on both stays. My reason for visiting was because I had two major tests to take at the local university to finish grad school and I wanted... More

Great find! Didn't know what to expect as my fellow hiker booked the hostel. WOW!! Beautiful place, deck, fire pit, supplies, clean sheets, great breakfast! Terrific staff runs the place with organization, helpfulness and friendly personalities. We chose to start our AT hike from here and it was a great decision. The price is fantastic and the value - better.... More

This place has everything a hiker would want. Beds are not just mats that you put your own sleeping bag on...real beds with sheets and pillow cases. Private rooms also available. They are extremely organized in their shuttle services, and are willing to shuttle day packers to and from the trail. Breakfast is served on time with many hot delicious... More

I stayed here for three nights while doing some slackpacking. They were awesome about shuttling my small group to the trail. They serve a wonderful breakfast, offering something different each morning we were there. The rooms were clean and the common areas were tidy. The mornings shuttles were very organized. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. There's no... More

The Hiker Hostel, Dahlonega, is the <perfect> springboard to the Appalachian Trail. The hostel is the number one home-stay starting-point for the southern section of the A-T. It houses about 25 people in standard dormitories, private rooms, and log cabins around the property. The prices range, as you would expect, based on the luxury of the accommodation (from about $18-$30... More

Had very good email communication made my arrival and start to the AT Trail very easy. Place is really nice staff was great. They have a good selection of last minute hiker needs. Also Walmart near by and they did late shuttles over for last minute needs.

I stayed here whilst travelling around the States. The owners were nice enough to pick me up from the Greyhound station (a 30 minute drive). They were welcoming and advised me on great walks around the Appalachian Trail for my stay. The rooms were comfy and warm and our downstairs room had its own kitchen and lounge area to watch... Glad we found this hidden gem! Stayed 2 nights while enjoying some of the area hiking trails. The hosts were fabulous and breakfast each morning was filling. Can't imagine staying anywhere else now. See you again in the spring!
