I booked this hotel as romantic getaway in Ybor while we were there for a friend's wedding on Oct. 18th. The exterior looked a bit rundown, but the lobby and room were both charming. The bed was a bit uncomfortable (I could feel the springs), but it seemed like a quiet, vintage hotel so it wasn't a big deal. With... More

Tina, a romantic getaway should be just that -- a getaway -- and I'm so sorry one of our events put a damper on your weekend. Usually at check in we tell each guest about the goings on for the evening, I am sorry that they did not tell you. This was an unfortunate oversight and definitely not how I... More

I fell in love with this hotel after coming here on a tour last year. I booked two nights on October 17th and 18th ( booked back In July) for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend for my birthday. Friday night was great. Quiet and peaceful and the hotel room was perfect, the bed was firm but comfy! We stayed... More

Melinda, I am so incredibly sorry that this happened. You're absolutely right -- the oversight about your check-out time is inexcusable, and I can see how frightening that might be. I'll be talking to the staff on this point to ensure it never happens again. As far as the event goes, I'm sorry we weren't more candid about the hotel's... More

The hotel was old but not charming. Not worth the money,i would have rathered stayed at a holiday inn. The placed seemed under staffed and not kept. The Breakfast was terrible - old muffins and stale beagles. Would not recogmend it. Had a musty smell too. Seemed like a bad part of town too.

Jasmine, I'm so disappointed to see you felt this way. Our staff should be present and helpful whenever you need them, and your breakfast should have been delicious. Honestly, I'm surprised to hear you experienced otherwise. That said, I'll follow up with the team to ensure this isn't a problem in the future. All the best, Tessa Shiver (Owner) More

I found this hotel during a walking tour of Ybor City, we stopped in for a short visit and look around. The hotel is not massive, however not small either, full of local history and gives you a chance to live 100 years ago. Han an appointment in Tampa the next week and booked a room for one night. Rooms... More

We've lived here 43 years and only heard of this fabulous place a year ago. They need PR! It's close to being a boutique hotel in that it's personal, unique (Cuban-think great woods here) to the area and anxious to please. A place where the wedding/guests feel like they're staying in an overlarge home which includes bridal suite and hospitality... More

This is a great old hotel in downtown Ybor City - within walking distance of the old city charms. We visited Ybor City to enjoy the history of the town and were so happy to stay at the Don Vicente, with it's lovely decor and beautifully kept rooms/facilities. Our room was comfortable and had a balcony overlooking the street. Don't... More

Do not hesitate to stay there! I usually like modern furniture and home styling, but it is impossible not to marvel at the stunning lobby and rooms (ours: 302, with a balcony on the street). It makes you feel like a 19th century lady. And the people at the front desk are just super sweet and available. Breakfast is sugary... More

As a frequent traveler I seek good value with as much exposure to the area's cultural history as time will allow. Working in Tampa one week afforded me such an opportunity. The Don Vicente Inn was saved from demolition by the Shiver Family, who now manage this quaint, historic hotel.

I wanted to stay in a hotel that was not a chain like Marriott, Sheraton, etc., and this definitely did not disappoint us! My mom (who was with me) likes old historical buildings that are refurnished, and this building was quite a sight. When you walk in, there are photos of what it looked like beforehand. It took a million... More
