My family and I stayed at the Scottish Inns in Silver Springs September 6-10, 2004. Hurricane Frances had knocked out our power and phone lines and we needed a place to stay with our two children.
The sign in front of the hotel advertised a weekly rate. They had one room left, but they refused to give us a weekly rate. Being that there were no other hotels available, we accepted the room in spite of this. The room was run down and infested with roaches. The room did have a small fridge and microwave, but the microwave was encrusted with gunk in some spots on the inside, so we chose not to use it. Water pressure in the shower was horrible. E stayed because we had no choice. We requested that they not send maid service as I have a job that requires me to work as late as 3 AM some days. They agreed. However, they knocked on the door for several days at 11 AM. Friday the 10th, the man that cleans the rooms knocked on our door at 8:23 AM. He also attempted to get in the room... more
