We stayed here one night, before heading to our beach condo. We picked it because it was very close to downtown Sarasota, in a safe and convenient location and because the reviews were decent. It's not fancy, but the people are nice and the room is clean. It's right next to a publix - which is good and bad. It's... More

We were needing a place for one night. Being familiar with Sarasota, we wanted to be near the water without the high prices. From the outside, the hotel looks like something out of the 50s, maybe an old Howard Johnson's look. Our room had been updated and fairly clean, new bedding, linens and bath towels. Room darkening drapes. Room also... More

We recently visited family in the area and this was one of very few rooms available. Read reviews that said although outdated, it was very clean. My standards of clean must be different. There was something that looked like mold behind the bathroom door and a couple of places that looked like they could use a good cleaning. Carpet did... More

You will find better smells at the dump. I tried turning on the AC, nothing. I tried opening the window, nothing. I tried going across the street to Publix, buying 9 tea tree eucalyptus candles, nothing. I finally complained to the manager and asked for a new room. She came to my room with a spray bottle and insisted there... More

The smell is like a trip to city microbhell, in the rooms and halls.ac units are turned off all the time, old beat up furniture in the "mug me now stairwell". Maids will turn your room ac off when out of room. And just a heads up if you like high school pep rallys at 8pm this is the place for you.Since... More

I wrote a blog post about this experience: http://incongruouscircumspection.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-hotel-from-hell-americas-best-value.html Here's an excerpt: "Inside the cramped lobby was a messy assortment of tables, resembling an attempt at a breakfast area. On the counter of the lobby desk was what looked like a five-gallon, pump-action bottle of hand sanitizer. That should have been our first warning. Behind us, a television was on,... More

The good: location was great and the sheets and towels were clean. TV and AC worked well. The bad: the room had a musty odor. The shower drained very slowly. The bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom was not cleaned well. The ugly: something was scratching in the walls.

Stayed at this hotel last weekend with 2 other families for a quick getaway. While the location is outstanding (10 mins from St Armand's and Lido beach), the hotel is not. The front staff is rude and unwelcoming. We decided not to sample the complimentary continental breakfast which consisted of cold cereal and milk. Rooms were decent but wear can... More

We stayed here and upon checking in I was skeptical because the exterior of the building is dated and needs some work along with the hallways. Once in the room I was very pleased... once again dated but very clean and spacious. I also LOVED the fact that there was title for flooring. I have stayed in many hotels with... More

Just a quick stop to lay your head. If your wanting higher quality this is not the place. Nice location, but not so good presentation. This is your topical come and go spot. Almost reminds you of a college form.
