If Sanibel is your destination, Kana Kai is a must visit. We loved the clean rooms, moderate price and tropical grounds. Lenny and Brenda made us feel like family. Will definitely make it back for another visit. More

Since I last visited Sanibel Island many many years ago, it has become quite pricey. I found the Kona Kai through tripadvisor, and had a wonderful stay. The managers Lenny and Brenda were both very warm and helpful, the grounds are quiet and interesting, and my room was great. They suggested places to eat and there are bicycles there to... More

We paid $200 a night for a queen efficiency. The grounds are lovely. Didn't swim in the pool but it looked inviting. HOWEVER, for $200 a night, I expect amenities like shampoo and a hair dryer. The room was certainly livable, but the off-season rate is fair, the high season rate is overpriced for what you get. Also, the kitchenette... More

Sanibel Island isn't exactly noted for being inexpensive. The overnight charges at its swanky hotels look like telephone numbers and can induce hysteria at first glance. But it is an utterly gorgeous place and really really worth staying on for a few days, to experience that laid-back relaxation - as well as the legendary Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge of course.... stayed here for two nights right after Thanksgiving. We were just leisurely working our way down the coast of Florida after a trip to Disney with our kids and grandkids. Found this place on Trip Advisor and certainly were not disappointed. The people who run this place (Brenda and Len) were great--very informative and gave us lots of tips on... More

Spent a very enjoyable two nights at the Kona Kai - shame our schedule did not allow us to stay longer. We booked based on the reviews here as it sounded as though it would be just the kind of place my husband and I like to stay at. We arrived very late but we were greeted cheerfully by Lenny.... More

A good friend recommended Kona Kai as a local motel that offers wonderful, personalized service and she was SPOT ON! We made a last minute decision to travel and I spoke with Brenda and she took care of us from the day we reserved to the minute we left. The rooms were spotless - we had 4 in our party... More

Just returned from a Florida roadtrip. We spent 2 nights at the Kona Kai, in a suite. We absolutely loved it. Super laid back. Very friendly owners. and a huge room. bedroom area with 2 queens seperated from the living area with a partition. Good enough for the kids to be asleep without mom and dad having to be quiet.... The Kona Kai resort is pretty nice, and centrally located on the island and right across from Billy's bike rentals which you must do if you're staying on Sanibel Island, but what takes the Kona Kai resort from ordinary to extraordinary is Brenda. She is very friendly and makes you feel right at home no matter how far from home... More
