I stayed here for four nights while vacationing in on the island. This hotels was absolutely perfect. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and familiar with the island and had suggestions for restaurants and other sightseeing attractions. The hotel is very nice with a tropical jungle feeling with lots of little lizards to see. The room was clean, comfortable with... More

Stayed at the Kona Kai for our anniversary and first trip to Sanibel Island. We chose it after our last beach trip we ended up in a very nice room that we spent almost zero time in. Deciding to be a bit more frugal this time around we chose the Kona Kai mostly for the price. For the value you... More

We stayed at Kona Kai while on our honeymoon, camping our way to key west from pensacola. We needed a place to sleep in some ac and a decent shower. Just happened to drive by and stop at this diamond in the rough, so glad we did. Super nice rooms for the price. Very cute property. The staff was great...even... More

We typically stay at the larger chain hotels, but decided last-minute to drive down to Sanibel for the 4th of July weekend. Most hotels were booked solid, and those that weren't were running at $350 or more per night. Found the Kona Kai available - looked at the reviews on TripAdvisor, and booked a suite for the weekend. You need... More

I stayed at the Kona Kai from June 28 to July 2nd 2014 and had a wonderful time. This motel is so cozy and centrally located. The staff was wonderful, pleasant and knowledgeable. The internet was spot on, cable had more channels than necessary. The pool was clean, warm and so enjoyable. I can't wait to go back. Thank you... More

We needed a one nighter before our house rental was available, so I located this Motel on line. Very reasonable nice, cute Hawaiian theme, friendly staff. It fit the bill for our overnight. Basic snacks and coffee for the morning. NICE restaurants in walking distance. Any stay on Sanibel Island is worth the trip. What an exceptional, pristine bit of... More

I reserved a week at this "motel or as I call it a trailer joint" because I have stayed in better motels than this. As soon as I got there, noticed the smell of mildew inside the room. The carpet was old and the place looked very run down. The comforter or bed cover smelled and had stains which the... More

We stayed in the Tikki cottage. Lovely room at the rear of the property. Small bathroom. Excellent location on the main strip. You can walk to restaurants and bike hire. Friendly management and great pool. Would recommend this motel.

My husband and I planned a quick weekend get-a-way in late January 2014 to escape another winter blizzard. Luckily, there was space available. The staff was friendly and helpful and the fridge in the room was great. It certainly wasn't lavish luxury, but we weren't really interested in that. Kona Kai has the "vintage" Floridian feel and that's just what... More

First time to Sanibel and my wife and I stayed at Kona Kai. Room was nice and clean, nothing fancy but served the purpose for a short trip. Only saw front desk person once so just make sure you understand this is a 100% self-serve motel. Good for short stay, not so sure for longer ones
