This is the "Old Florida". Exactly what we were loking for. We stayed in the Matthew Lodge. Great room. Bathroom has been nicey updated at some time, has double vanities, granite tops etc. Daily maid service was fantastic. Screened lanai at front of unit that faces the ocean was great for lazing around or having a meal. Kitchen was well... More

We stayed two nights in a first-floor room in Kimball Lodge. Yes, the room had an ocean view and the bed was comfortable. Otherwise, the room was infested with tiny ants (mgmt did nothing about this) and showing wear (peeling paint, stains). The bathroom was quite small. The breakfast is very basic. The folks there do not go out of... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of the Island Inn. Your experience seems very out of character for our Inn and its staff. I would like to learn more about your stay. If you have time, please call or email the Inn and ask to speak to the General Manager. Thank you again for you time... More

We just returned from the Island Inn and it was so great to get away from it all. We did not rent a car so we rented bikes (wished they were free for guest) but it was great to see the Island this way...the bike trails are beautiful. Traditions resteraunt was amazing...best steak we have had in a long time.... More

When we orignally walked up to the hotel, I was concerned about what I got myself into, but once stepping inside, everything changed. Rooms have been nicely renovated. Restaurant is fantastic. Grounds are clean. Very peaceful and relaxing. The only knock on this hotel for us was that they refused to assist with any special request. We had a lot... More

Thank you for your review and stay at the Island Inn. It sounds like you and your guests found exactly what you were looking for! As for the one small room you mentioned, I believe you are speaking of the Gulfside Guest Room (1 queen bed, fridge/micro/coffee maker, limited view). This room is our smallest and least expensive accommodation that... More

We live in Fort Lauderdale, but Sanibel is worlds away! My BFF and I needed a beach weekend away from the bustle and found the Island Inn in Sanibel. The resort is located right on the beach, with a nice pool. Our room was basic, but clean and had a nice terrace. I guess the bugs are bad in Sanibel,... More

We had a great time and the cottage was perfect for me and my parents. Friendly and helpful staff. We really enjoyed the breakfast. Clean, fresh and updated. Nice linens and good heater in the bathrooms (chilly night). Very easy for us to get in and out of the room to the car and to the beach with my dad's... More

We just returned from a trip to Fort Myers and Sanibel Island. We decided to spend two nights on Sanibel Island after our week at a condo on Fort Myers beach. We picked the Island Inn because it was rated high on the web site. If you like to spend a lot of money and stay in a run down... More

Thank you for your feedback. It sounds like the Island Inn was not the best fit for your vacation. The Inn will continually strive to provide modern accommodations in a historic beachfront setting with unparalleled beach proximity accompanied by the lowest density on Sanibel. For future guests, we suggest calling the Inn directly and viewing our website to get a... More

We spent 4 nights at the Island Inn and it was just what my husband and I were looking for: quiet and unpretentious lodgings, beautiful uncluttered beach with breathtaking sunsets. The inn is right on the beach. We stayed in an end unit on the second level of Matthew's Lodge, with a lovely king size bed (that did not sag... More

Thank you for leaving a review of your stay at the Island Inn. It seemed like you folks embraced the beauty of the pristine barrier island that is Sanibel and found our resort to be exactly what you were looking for in an accommodation. I also appreciate the tips you provided in your review, particularly the traffic advise. Great pictures,... More

The Island inn is a nice enough hotel. Room, bathroom, and kitchen area were definitely adequate and clean. And basically on the beach, with also a nice-sized pool on the grounds. The room also had a screened in balcony facing the ocean from where we could watch the sunset. The sunsets were consistently amazing, and we ventured on the roof... More

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. It sounds like the accommodations and location was perfect, but the no see ums got the best of you. I have to say that last year was the worst that we can remember. However, November is usually the end of the "buggy" season. The island is now relatively bug-free and... More

For our 40th anniversary, my wife asked me to "find a place that she would like, on Sanibel Island." It had me worried at first....but I chose the Island Inn for a four-day stay, and I am now the "hero." We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is professional, welcoming and responsive. We booked a Kimball Lodge Gulfview Kitchen... More
